Application

Preformed pipe insulation applications.

Description

ROCKWOOL RockLap H&V Sections are pre-formed sections of stone wool insulation, manufactured pre-slit for ease of application and have a layer of factory applied foil facing and a self-adhesive lap. The self-adhesive lap allows the sections to be snapped onto the pipework, then backing tape used to completely seal the joint.

The sections have been designed to provide acoustic and thermal insulation to heating, ventilation and air conditioning pipework, from temperatures of 0–250˚C. In addition to insulating to save energy and minimize heat loss, insulation is required to services and equipment for other specific criteria such as Frost Protection, Condensation Control, Personnel Protection and Acoustic Control.

Suitable for heating and ventilation pipes in a range of settings, through buildings, plants and other structures.

Features and benefits:

  • Fast and simple to install with the snap system, reducing cost and the amount of time on site.
  • The requirement for taping is significantly reduced due to the security of the snap system, taping is simply used as a seal.
  • ROCKWOOL RockLap H&V Sections have limited combustibility; the surface finish is also compliant with Class 0.
  • The sections are resilient and high performing provided in a one-piece, with reinforced foil and integral lap.
  • CE marked in accordance with BS EN 14303.

Fire Performance:

Tested to BS EN 1366-3, for the fire resistance of penetration seals offering up to EI 120.

Water resistance:

RockLap H&V Pipe Sections are water repellent. However, when used or stored in the open, the insulation should be protected with a waterproof covering. When used to insulate cold pipes, the joints should be sealed with foil tape to prevent condensation.

pH neutrality

ROCKWOOL insulation is chemically compatible with all types of pipes, equipment and fittings. (Guidance is given in BS 5970 regarding the treatment of austenitic stainless-steel pipework and fittings). Stone wool insulation is chemically inert. A typical aqueous extract of ROCKWOOL insulation is neutral or slightly alkaline (pH 7 to 9.5).

Durability

ROCKWOOL stone wool is highly resilient, durable and dimensionally stable, maintaining its thickness and shape over time. Moreover due to its fibre structure and overall flexibility, stone wool can easily fit into available spaces, helping in avoiding unplanned air gaps, cracks or other installation errors in the final construction, ensuring stable performance over time.

Biological

ROCKWOOL stone wool is a naturally inert and rot-proof material that does not encourage or support the growth of fungi, moulds or bacteria, or offer sustenance to insects or vermin.
