Intumescent pipe wraps to prevent the spread of fire through plastic pipes where they penetrate fire compartment floors.

Consists of a high performance graphite based intumescent material within a polythene cover which reacts under the influence of heat to exert pressure on the pipe as it softens to form a carbonaceous char, which provides an effective insulation plug thus preventing smoke and fire passing through to the adjoining compartment. The wraps have a self-adhesive tab which secures the wrap around the pipe.

Features and benefits:

  • Available for 32–160 mm pipes.
  • Suitable for polyvinyl chloride (PVC), unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U), polyethylene (PE), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) and polypropylene (PP) pipes.
  • Can be retrofitted.
  • No mechanical fixings required.
  • Manufactured in the UK.
  • Expected to last the lifetime of the building.

Standards and approvals:

  • Up to four hour fire rating.
  • Tested to BS EN 1366-3:2009.
  • Classified according to EN 13501-2: 2007 + A1: 2009.
  • CE Marked.
  • Performance unaffected by weathering (Type X Durability).

Application/ installation:

Pipe wrap should be placed around the plastic pipe and secured using the built in self-adhesive tab, with the lower edge of the wrap level with the soffit of the floor. It is essential that there is no gap between the surrounding constructions. Any gaps should be grouted using the QF2 Fire Protection Compound (specified separately).
