Application

Specifically developed for use in inverted, living (green) roofs, blue roofs, and podium deck roofs.

For use with precast and in-situ concrete, concrete block for vertical applications and lightweight structural concrete.

Note that lightweight insulating concrete are not suitable substrates.

Tough and flexible monolithic waterproofing membrane, made from a blend of bitumen, synthetic rubbers, polymers and other additives.

Guidance for specification option:

Pro-Prime® bitumen is a low viscosity, high penetration, cold-applied bituminous solution designed to prime and seal porous roof surfaces before the application of bituminous materials. Proteus Pro-Prime® Bitumen seals porous substrates and promotes the adhesion of bituminous waterproofing systems and sheet coverings.

Liquid-applied waterproofing

Type

Proteus Hot Melt® Compound.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Form: Modified bitumen (black).
  • Surface preparation: Wet electronic leak test. Required for all inverted/ buried systems prior to the waterproofing membrane being covered.
  • Flash point (Test method to CAN/CGSB-370.50-M89 ASTM D92): ≥260°C (≥25°C above application temperature).
  • Flow rate (Flow test method to CAN/CGSB-370.50-M89 ASTM D1191-64): ≤3 mm (Flow test, 75°C, 60°C, 5h; typical value 2 mm).
  • Viscosity (Test method to Brookfield DVII, S27): ≤1000 mPas. At 180°C, typical value 500 mPas.
  • Softening temperature (Ring and Ball test method to EN 1427): ≥90°C. Typical value 95°C.
  • Density (Test method to EN 13880-1): 900–1100 kg/m³. At 25°C, typical value 1000 kg/m³.
  • Bending strength (bending test): Pass (at -10°C).
  • Sealing (joints and penetrations; penetration test method to EN 1426): 40–100 x 0.1 mm. At 25°C, typical value 78 x 0.1 mm.
  • Testing: Cone penetration test method to CAN/CGSB-370.50-M89 ASTM D1191-64).
  • ≤110 x 0.1 mm cone penetration (at 25°C, typical value 67 x 0.1 mm).
  • ≤200 x 0.1 mm cone penetration (at 50°C, typical value 148 x 0.1 mm).

Reinforcement

Guidance for specification option:

Open weave glass fibre reinforcing mesh.

  • Form: supplied in rolls of 30 x 1 m; 0.53 mm thick.
  • Colour: White.
  • Weight: 95 g/m² (glass veil: 35 g/m²; resin content: 15 g/m²).
  • Finish: GI094T.
  • Fibre: Glass E type (warp/ weft: EC 9 68 TEX).
  • Tensile strength: Warp: >700 N/50mm; weft: >750 N/50mm.

Surface treatment

Proteus Hot Melt® Sanded Capsheet.

Guidance for specification option:

A highly durable polyester reinforced elasto-plastomeric bitumen waterproofing membrane.

For use as the finishing layer of the Proteus Hot Melt® System for paved or ballasted roofs.

  • Black, with a sanded upper finish.
  • Can be applied by torch/ glue.
  • Good workability even at low temperatures.
  • Good puncture strength.
  • Supplied in rolls of 10 x 1 m, 4 mm thick.

Proteus Hot Melt® Anti-Root Sanded Capsheet.

Guidance for specification option:

A highly durable polyester reinforced elasto-plastomeric bitumen waterproofing membrane.

For use as the finishing layer of the Proteus Hot Melt® System with anti-root properties for living green roofs, blue attenuated roofs, mixed landscape podium areas and other similar applications.

  • Black, with a sanded upper finish.
  • Can be applied by torch, glue or hot air.
  • Good resistance to puncturing.
  • Good mechanical performance.
  • Resistance against the penetration of roots.
  • Supplied in rolls of 10 x 1 m, 4 mm thick.

Proteus Pro-Therm Cellular Glass Inverted.

Guidance for specification option:

Proteus Pro-Therm Cellular Glass Inverted, as part of the inverted roof system, is cellular glass with a pre-applied inorganic coating on the topside. Both the core material and the coating have an A1 -fire reaction classification and therefore is incombustible. Proteus Pro-Therm Cellular Glass Inverted, insulation is manufactured from specially

graded recycled glass (≥60%) and natural raw materials which are available in abundant supply (sand, dolomite, lime).
