Description

Mechanically-fixed PVC single-ply membrane roof system for warm roof constructions.

Features:

  • Suitable for new build and refurbishment applications on flat or pitched roofs.
  • Protan SE membrane is manufactured from pliable PVC reinforced with knitted polyester. The PVC contains stabilizers, which provide fire resistance and make the product UV stable and resistant to both high and low temperatures. The membrane remains flexible at low temperatures, during installation and use.
  • Protan SE membrane has a unique slip resistant surface texture, which provides a significant safety factor when walked upon in wet weather.

Durability:

  • Accelerated weathering tests and performance in service indicates that Protan SE 1.2 mm membrane should have a life in excess of 40 years with mandatory maintenance.
  • Protan SE 1.6/ 1.8 mm membranes may have longer life expectancies.
  • The use of lighter colours helps to reduce surface temperature, which may improve the membrane’s ageing performance.

Fire Resistance:

–Tests indicate that:

  • A system comprising 0.7 mm profiled steel decking, 50 mm polyurethane insulation with an aluminium foil facing on the upper side and glass tissue facing to the underside, and one layer of Protan SE mechanically fixed, will be unrestricted.
  • A system comprising 0.7 mm profiled steel decking, 0.21 mm thick vapour control layer, 90 mm foil-faced polyurethane insulation, and one layer of Protan SE mechanically fixed can be classified under BS EN 13501-5:2005 as Broof (t4).
  • A system comprising 0.7 mm profiled steel decking, a polyethylene vapour control layer, 150 mm foil faced Kingspan TR26 PIR insulation and one layer of Protan SE mechanically fixed can be classified under BS EN 13501-5:2005 as Broof (t4).
  • A system comprising an 18 mm plywood deck, a polyethylene vapour control layer, 150 mm foil faced Kingspan TR26 PIR insulation and one layer of Protan SE mechanically fixed can be classified under BS EN 13501-5:2005 as Broof (t4).

Substrates:

  • Concrete roof decking.
  • Plywood WBP to BS 5268–2 and BS EN 636–3, minimum thickness 18 mm.
  • Profiled galvanized steel deck, minimum recommended thickness 0.7 mm to BS EN 10147 Fe E280G Z275.
  • Roofing Grade OSB Board to BS EN 300, Grade 3, and minimum thickness 18 mm.
  • Profiled aluminium deck, minimum recommended thickness 0.9 mm to BS EN 485-1/2/3/4:1995 and BS EN 1999-1-4:2007.
