Cold press pipeline fittings for use with copper gas pipes.

Press connector fittings with connectors and pipes manufactured from copper and gunmetal, in accordance with DIN EN 1057 and DVGW worksheet GW 392. Suitable for:

  • Gases in accordance with DVGW G 260 in gas installations, in accordance with DVGW-​TRGI 2008 (DVGW worksheets G 600, G 462, G 459-1 and Technical information 10)/ DVFG-​TRF 2012.
  • Liquid gas in the gas phase for domestic and commercial applications, tested in accordance with DVGW worksheet G 5614.
  • Heating oil pipelines for heating oil, in accordance with DIN 51603‑1.
  • Diesel fuel pipelines, as suction and pressure pipelines in accordance with DIN EN 590, in consideration of the general technical approval Z-38.4‑71 (size: 12–54 mm).
  • Compressed air systems.

Sealing element:

Hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) sealing element guarantees that the press connections have the required degree of sealing, even where the pipe surface is rough.

Press connectors:

The press connectors have a circumferential bead in which the sealing element lies. The connector is deformed in front of and behind the bead, and permanently connected to the pipe during pressing. The sealing element is not deformed during pressing. Viega's distinctive hexagonal pressing pattern bonds fitting and pipe and provides the mechanical strength for the connection.

The connectors may only be pressed with Viega press machines with constant pressing force (e.g. Pressgun 5, Picco, Pressgun 4E/ 4B).

With SC‑Contur, any connections which remain un-pressed become visible when the system is filled. The SC‑Contur is certified and fulfils the requirements of DVGW worksheet G 5614, point 4.4.1, connectors with forced leakage.

Viega guarantees that unpressed connections are visible during a leakage test:

  • With the wet leakage test in the pressure range from 0.1–0.65 MPa (1.0–6.5 bar).
  • With dry leakage test in the case of compressed air or noble gases from 22 hPa–0.3 MPa (22 mbar–3.0 bar).

Viega Profipress G fittings are offered in various configurations, including:

  • Elbows and T-​pieces.
  • Adapter pieces/ adapter elbows.
  • Couplings and reductions.
  • Flanges.
  • Wall plates.
  • Gas ball valves.
  • Gas meter ball values for single and double pipe gas meters.
  • Gas sockets and hoses.
  • Accessories.

Corrosion resistance:

Depending on the area of use, corrosion protection measures may be necessary. The manufacturer suggests over-ground pipelines and fittings in rooms which do not normally require external corrosion protection.

They suggest exceptions in the following cases:

  • Contact with aggressive building materials such as nitrite, or materials containing ammonium.
  • In aggressive surroundings.
  • In recesses within bare floors or in the compensating layer, they must be treated in the same way as buried external pipelines.

The manufacturer recommends that the following regulations are followed:

  • DIN 30672 for underground use.
  • DVGW-TRGI 2008, and DVGF 2012, for external pipes.
  • DVGW-TRGI 2008, and DVGF 2012, for internal pipes.
  • DVGW-TRGI 2008, for recesses in bare floor or levelling layer.

The connectors may only be pressed with Viega press machines with constant pressing force (e.g. Pressgun 5, Picco, Pressgun 4E/ 4B).
