Horizontal work | TremStik Spray-on Primer.Guidance for specification option: A solvent-based synthetic rubber primer specially developed for the effective adhesion of self-adhesive or torch applied membranes to compatible substrates. Once spray applied with the specific applicator gun, TremStik Spray-on Primer should be touch dry within 2—3 minutes achieving a coverage rate of approximately 12 m²/L dependent on substrate porosity. Spray-applied application should be undertaken 10—20 cm away from the designated substrate and with a single pass ensuring an even spread of product. |
Skirtings and vertical work | As horizontal work. |
Air and vapour control layer | |
Type | POWERply AVCL TO.Guidance for specification option: Foil lined, glass fibre reinforced, SBS modified bituminous membrane that is torch applied and primarily specified as an air and vapour control layer (AVCL). Suitable for all building types including high humidity environments. The upper sanded facing provides an ideal substrate for TremStik polyurethane adhesives when adhering TremTherm insulation boards. Membrane side and end laps should be a minimum of 100 mm and 150 mm respectively. Ensure all laps face down the roof slope to avoid negative laps. Where safe to do so, all laps are to be sealed by gas torch with a minimum 5 mm bead of bitumen exuded. |

Type | TremTherm PIR.Guidance for specification option: Commonly specified throughout the industry for applications that require lightweight and thermally efficient insulation with good compressive strength.
TremTherm Mineral Wool.Guidance for specification option: Specified for projects that require acoustic attenuation or A2 rated fire performance (non-combustible) under BS EN 13501-1 classification.
Manufacturer guidanceFlat roof thermal insulation boards manufactured from either Polyisocyanurate or Mineral Wool. TremTherm insulation is available in various incremental thicknesses, can be designed tapered, and will achieve the design requirements of our clients or Part L Building Regulations. |
Fixing | TremStik PU Adhesive.Guidance for specification option: Insulation boards should be laid out in break bond pattern, fully supported, and with all edges closely butted together to ensure thermally continuity. When laid on metal decks with partial support, the long edges of the boards should be laid perpendicular to the crowns of the metal deck with all board joints fully supported. Insulation boards are typically adhered using TremStik PU adhesive but in certain circumstances the boards can be mechanically secured with appropriate fasteners and pressure plates. Mechanical fixing patterns are subject to project specific wind uplift calculations. |

Type | POWERply underlay SA.Guidance for specification option: Non-woven polyester, glass fibre reinforced, SBS modified bituminous membrane that is self-adhesive and primarily specified as underlay membrane. The upper silicon facing provides an ideal substrate for providing robust adhesion to the proposed cap sheet membrane. Membrane side and end laps should be a minimum of 100 mm and 150 mm respectively. Ensure all laps face down the roof slope to avoid negative laps. All laps are to be sealed with a minimum 5 mm bead of bitumen exuded. |
Attachment | Self-adhesive.Guidance for specification option: POWERply Underlay SA is applied to TremTherm insulation by means of the self-adhesive backing. The insulation surface must be suitably primed with TremStik Spray-on Primer prior to application. |

Flashings | Manufacturer's standard.Guidance for specification option: Once the full waterproofing system is installed, insert TremFlash non-combustible cover flashing directly into a prepared chase and apply illbruck SP510 mastic along the chase line to provide a robust watertight seal. |
Skirtings and upstands | Manufacturer's standard.Guidance for specification option: To a suitably prepared and clean substrate, apply the full waterproofing system to all skirting and upstands in accordance with the above specification. In accordance with the NFRC Safe2torch campaign, Tremco CPG UK Ltd officially supports this industry wide initiative to significantly reduce the risk of roof fires when using gas torches, either to dry out roofs or when used to install torch-on membranes." To reduce risk a torch-free area of no less than 900 mm back from any combustible material must be established to comply with the contractor’s public liability insurance. In these areas all torch-on products are prohibited and must be substituted for POWERply self-adhesive membranes that are applied with a hot air gun only. All upstand and skirting details should terminate a minimum of 150 mm above the finished roof level to comply with BS 6229:2018 and Tremco warranty requirements. If in doubt, please consult Tremco Technical Services for detailed advice and support. |
Welted drips | Manufacturer's standard.Guidance for specification option: Cut a suitably sized piece of POWERply cap sheet and secure to the drip batten with a drip former. Prime the drip former with TremStik Spray Primer, pull the POWERply cap sheet tightly around and seal onto the field area underlay. The field area cap sheet must be the final layer to be installed avoiding negative laps. Where fascia boards or external gutters are present, the welted drip edge should appropriately overhang to accommodate these items and support effective drainage into the gutter. |
Surface protection | POWERply Walkway.Guidance for specification option: Non-woven polyester, glass fibre reinforced, SBS modified bituminous membrane that is self-adhesive and primarily specified as an additional protective cap sheet membrane in areas of frequent foot traffic. Cut POWERply Walkway membrane into suitably sized pieces and outline the direction of access routes. Where safe to do so, apply by gently heating the reverse of the membrane with a gas torch or use a hot-air gun if torch-free areas. The mineral surface must always face upwards, and the membrane applied without folds or creases that may affect the overall finish. Sheet ends can be butt jointed to avoid prominent laps that may present a slight trip hazard. |
System accessories | TremDome.Guidance for specification option: A traditional domed style rooflight that includes a thermally broken insulated kerb with excellent natural light transmittance properties. TremDome rooflights come with a variety of ventilation accessories and can be operated manually or electronically. Design is subject to survey or client requirements.
