MIRALITE® EASYSAFE – ANTI-SHATTER SAFETY MIRROR


Mirrors are a great way of reflecting light, colour, and pattern around the room to help brighten up any sized space. Mirrors are both decorative and functional and are a useful tool when it comes to creating practical and stunning interior designs.


However, the safety aspects of glass mirrors should not be forgotten, particularly in high-traffic areas such as changing rooms, hotel receptions, and retail outlets, as well as in the home. Sliding mirrored wardrobes, for example, are a growing trend in new-build properties, helping to add light and depth to bedrooms. Anti-shatter mirrors are ideal for keeping occupants including children safe.


MIRALITE® EASYSAFE is an innovation in safety mirrors. It is a shatterproof mirror that retains 98% of glass splinters if the mirror breaks. This provides peace of mind for homeowners, parents, guests and other end users, and also improves the safety of workers who process and install this anti-shatter mirror.


An anti-shatter resin backing is added during the manufacturing process. This delivers enhanced safety performance and appearance without the need to apply safety film during processing. This makes it easier to work with: easier to cut, grind, drill and process – which reduces time, waste and labour costs compared to traditional safety back-filmed mirrors. In addition, it guarantees no risk of frayed edges.


Manufactured without plastic, it generates less waste and is fully recyclable. The water-based and lead-free components ensure better indoor air quality through very low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.


To align with Saint-Gobain’s commitment to health and wellbeing, and sustainability, MIRALITE® EASYSAFE uses water-based and lead-free raw materials in the manufacturing process. This preserves interior air quality and benefits the environment through reduced VOC emissions.


An additional sustainability benefit is that much of the usual waste that is produced with traditional safety back-filmed mirrors is avoided.


MIRALITE® EASYSAFE offers a higher safety level for end-users compared to standard mirrors, and its performance has been tested and verified against the most demanding standards.
