Framing

Knauf 92 'C-T' (0.92) at 600 mm centres to suit maximum height.
Head channel: Knauf 94 Deep Flange 'U' Channel (0.70) (70 mm deep flange).
Floor channel: Knauf 94 Deep Flange 'U' Channel (0.70) (70 mm deep flange) along with associated Knauf 25 x 50 mm Angle Sections, 100 mm in lengths to support Knauf Coreboard.

Insulation

25 mm Knauf Insulation Acoustic Roll.

Linings

3 x 15 mm / 1 x 19 mm Knauf Fire Panel (lobby/ room side) / Coreboard (shaft side).

Fasteners

Inner layer: 25 mm Knauf Drywall Screws – Jackpoint Self Drilling.
Middle layer: 42 mm Knauf Drywall Screws – Jackpoint Self Drilling.
Outer layer: 55 mm Knauf Drywall Screws – Jackpoint Self Drilling.

Joint treatment

Horizontal plasterboard joint: Knauf Flat Fixing Plate.
Shaft side: Knauf Coreboard Channel (with inclusion of 150 mm strip of Knauf Coreboard).

Finish

System must be taped and jointed using Knauf Joint Filler (Premium) or Knauf Joint Cement Premium and Knauf Joint Tape (Paper). Or alternative Knauf jointing compounds manufactured to EN 13963.
Knauf Wallboard Primer applied once taping and jointing completed.
Prior to where paint decoration is required. For preparation for decoration of where gypsum plaster skim is required, the outer layer of plasterboard joints is required to be taped and filled, using Knauf Joint Filler (Premium) and Knauf Joint Tape (Paper) meeting quality level 1 in accordance with Eurogypsum - Drywall Jointing & Finishing - Surface quality level classification.
For application where gypsum skim finish is required, the Knauf system is to be taped and filled using Knauf jointing compounds.

Deflection head

For deflection head allowance of up to -25 mm or ±12.5 mm, use 2 x 19 mm Knauf Coreboard fillets, Knauf Insulation Rocksilk® RS60 within cavity head construction to depth of 300 mm, Knauf Insulation Rocksilk RS60® retained by Knauf Angle Sections 25 x 50 mm.

The fire resistance performance of the system is based on tested solutions using deflection head construction.

EI 90 tested in accordance with BS EN 1364-1; lobby | room to shaft / shaft to lobby | room.

Sound insulation

50 dB (Rw) when tested to BS EN 10140-2.

Duty rating (to BS 5234-2)

Severe Duty in accordance with BS 5234-2, clause 1.6.2 & 1.6.3 of Annex B & C.

Manufacturer guidance

The maximum height for all Knauf Shaftwall systems (see Partition height) follows the requirements as outlined within EN 1364-1 and DIAP (Direct Field of Application). The stated maximum height figure (see System height) is the lower value between the cold state height, calculated structurally to a limiting deflection of L/240 @ 200 Pa and the fire state height, as outlined in accordance with EN 1364-1 and DIAP (Direct Field of Application).
