A high density rock mineral fibre insulation core, faced on both sides with a factory applied white ablative coating.
Application
Suitable for most surfaces, including concrete, bricks, masonry, steel, wood, gypsum, glass, plastic and most non-porous surfaces. It should not be used in direct contact with bituminous materials. It can be used with a range of applications, including:
- All types of construction with or without building service penetrations.
- To reinstate the fire resistance performance of wall constructions where they have been provided with apertures for the penetration of services.
- Installation in drywalls with or without framing around the opening.
Description
Kingspan Safire™ Coated Batt is designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke through openings in fire rated walls and floors where openings are formed to allow the installation of multiple building services. It also maintains the acoustic design performance.
It consists of a high density stone wool core, over-coated with Kingspan Safire™ Multicoat. The top coating provides additional protection by significantly reducing the permeability of the stone wool core and prevents the passage of hot gases. This reduces the temperature rise on the unexposed side and heat conduction through the building services.
The top coating can be on one or two sides and is selected on the basis of installation considerations and fire resistance. On site, Safire™ Coated Batt must be used together with Kingspan Safire™ Intumescent Mastic Plus for sealing around building services and the surrounding construction.
