Kingspan KoolDuct System

Suitable for use in HVAC systems to reduce air–leakage rates to a fraction of those typical of rectangular sheet metal ductwork.

An energy efficient ductwork solution for HVAC applications offering premium thermal performance and reducing air leakage to a fraction of typical sheet metal ductwork. The system is comprised of rigid phenolic insulation panels with aluminium facings and includes fabrication methods, jointing systems and accessories.

Designed for use in building services/ HVAC applications and is suitable for both new build and refurbishment projects in the residential, commercial, education, industrial and leisure sectors.

Ductwork design and frictional resistance:

Kingspan KoolDuct rectangular ductwork, including fittings, follows the same calculation principles and duct sizing methods as are used for rectangular metal ductwork.

The frictional resistance is comparable with that of galvanized sheet steel ductwork.

Benefits include:

  • Low air-leakage – can meet meet air–leakage Class C and D both at low and medium pressures (ref. BS EN 1507: 2006; BS EN 13403: 2003 and BESA DW/144).Installed cost savings – can provide an ideal value engineered ductwork solution
  • Installed cost savings – can provide an ideal value engineered solution.
  • Space saving – fits flush to ceiling.
  • Faster installation – up to three times faster.
  • Single fix installation – one less trade onsite and less disruption for others.
  • Up to 75% lighter than sheet metal ductwork) – can overcome severe constraints on structural loading.
  • Non-fibrous insulation.

Operational limits:

The recommended operational limits for ductwork fabricated from the Kingspan KoolDuct® System:

  • Mean air velocity (maximum): 25 m/s.
  • Design pressure (maximum): Positive: 1000 Pa, Negative: 750 Pa.
  • Internal air temperature: -20ºC to +80ºC during continuous operation.
  • Size: Unlimited (provided that recommended Kingspan KoolDuct® fabrication techniques and installation procedures are strictly observed)
  • Outdoor ductwork must be protected with a compatible weatherproof.

- Quality Control:

Kingspan KoolDuct panels are manufactured to the highest standards under a quality control system certified to:

  • BS EN ISO 9001: 2015 (Quality Management Systems. Requirements).
  • BS EN ISO 14001: 2015 (Environmental Management Systems. Requirements).
  • BS OHSAS 18001: 2007 (Health and Safety Management Systems. Requirements).

CFC-free and HCFC-free with zero ozone depleting potential (zero ODP) and a global warming potential (GWP) of ≤5.

BREEAM – ductwork fabricated from The Kingspan KoolDuct® System can contribute directly, andindirectly, toward the achievement of credits in the building rating system, BREEAM. The relevantcredits are Ene1 – Reduction of energy use and carbon emissions Mat 1 – Life Cycle ImpactMat 3 – Responsible sourcing of materials.

BES 6001:

Certified to BES 6001 ‘Excellent’ (Framework Standard for Responsible Sourcing).
