Application

Suitable for concrete and timber and/ or high density board floating floors, subject to high loads, such as those in mixed use developments, leisure facilities, bowling alleys, dance studios, music rooms, recording studios, theatres, residential properties above commercial spaces, hotels and cinemas.

For floating floor applications and structures that cannot support the weight of concrete, alternative lighter weight building materials can be considered such as Smartspan, a high density gypsum based board.

Description

An isolation system for concrete and timber floating floors.

Kinetics RIM consists of Kinetics Isolation Pads (KIPs) embedded in glass fibre mat. The pads isolate the floor from the substrate, while the glass fibre mat keeps the pads in place and forms an absorptive air space. The spacing of the pads can be adjusted to match the load bearing requirements of each application.

Kinetics Isolation Pads (KIP) are formed from a high density matrix of compressed, moulded glass fibre, coated with a plastic wrap. The pumping action of air between the fibres provides viscous damping, reducing motion caused by transient shock and vibration. A range of densities and spring rates are available.

KIP fiberglass isolators allow a wide range of loading on a given isolator while maintaining a constant natural frequency. Applied loads are substantially below pre-compression loads, providing a 200% overload safety factor. The result is permanent resiliency with constant natural frequency. KIP fiberglass resists rust, ozone, mildew and fungus. It is vermin proof, will not shrink, swell, or decompose. Isolation characteristics of the media are constant over a temperature range of -40°C to 121°C.

Features and benefits:

  • Inorganic fiberglass media.
  • Available in a wide range of standard and special mount configurations for various load ranges, natural frequencies, and other support characteristics.
  • Flexible elastomeric coating.
  • Constant natural frequency in wide load range.
  • Permanent and predictable resiliency.
  • Predictable dynamic response.
  • High-energy dissipation.
  • Controlled viscous damping.
  • Load capacities 0.35–35 kg/cm².
