Description

Triple protection roofing and structural waterproofing system.

The system consists of Flexiphalte Pommar and Flexiphalte Baryprene, which are fully bonded to each other and to the substrate which should have a float finish. Flexiphalte Pommar is manufactured by mixing asphaltic cement with filler and coarse aggregate using conventional techniques. The asphaltic cement is made by blending bitumen, polymer and other additives.

Features and benefits:

  • Durability: Flexiphalte Pommar has improved high temperature stability and is more flexible at low temperatures than conventional mastic asphalt, with a longer life expectancy.
  • Fire resistance: Flexiphalte Pommar fulfils all the requirements for a roof covering as given in BS 5588, ‘Fire precautions in the design and construction of buildings’ (Part 1: Section 1.1: 1980), and achieves the highest rating (P60) under the test requirements of BS 476: Part 3: 1975, 'External fire exposure roof test’.
  • Compressive strength: When Flexiphalte Pommar is fully confined, it has the same compressive strength as the containing material. When not confined, the compressive strength is dependent upon a number of factors (including temperature).
  • Toxicity: Flexiphalte Pommar is non-toxic and is generally suitable for use in contact with potable water.
  • Odour: Flexiphalte Pommar is odourless after laying.
  • Resistance to biological attack: Flexiphalte Pommar is vermin proof and rotproof.
  • Thermal expansion: Flexiphalte Pommar is thermoplastic and is capable of accommodating normal movements encountered in well-designed building structures.
  • Resistance to water: Flexiphalte Pommar is impervious to water.

C.D.1–6 - Economy to Super Plus (prefixed, insulated): FlexiPhalte waterproof surfacing as C.D options (above), Lytag concrete grade 25 with steel mesh to BS 4483, Type A142 (or steel fibres) which can be laid to falls if there are no falls in the structural deck, insulation to meet designed thermal transmittance (U-value), float finished concrete deck with 25 mm diameter drainage holes (by others).

- HGV and PSV insulated decks:

L.D.1–5 - Economy to Super Plus (prefixed, insulated): FlexiPhalte waterproof surfacing as L.D options (below) for routine HGV (with maximum 11.5 T axle load) use, grade and thickness of reinforced concrete screed to suit service use of deck, insulation to meet designed thermal transmittance (U-value), float finished concrete deck with 25 mm diameter drainage holes (by others). Consult manufacturer for details onlong term parking, e.g. trailers on dolly wheels or coach stops.

- HGV decks:

  • L.D.1 - Economy: Nominal 40 mm FlexiPhalte paving grade mastic asphalt, nominal 10 mm FlexiPhalte roofing grade mastic asphalt glass fibre tissue separator, float finished concrete deck.

- Flexiphalte Baryprene Plus (B3A):

Polymer-modified membrane with an embossed aluminium foil on the upper surface and a sanded finish on the underside. Fully bonded using traditional pour and roll techniques.

- Flexiphalte High Performance:

Polymer-modified membrane reinforced with a 50 g/m² glass-fibre mat, with talc on the upper surface and sanded finish on the underside. The membrane is for use as an alternative to a traditional underlay and is fully bonded using traditional pour and roll methods.
