Horizontal active fire curtain barrier providing 120 minutes fire integrity and 30 minutes radiation performance, tested to BS EN 1634-1 for fire resistance and radiation control.
Horizontal active fire curtain barrier suitable for ceiling and floor fire compartmentation where vertical fire separation is impractical or undesirable. Typical applications include protected means of escape, atria, lobbies, reception areas, corridor separation, openings in horizontal fire-resisting constructions, boundary protection, escalator and stair interfaces, and lift shafts and lift lobbies.
Regularly specified within hospitals and healthcare facilities, schools and universities, hotels, high-rise and mixed-use developments, offices, retail environments, stadia, museums and galleries, as well as transport infrastructure such as train stations and airports. Also suitable for warehouses, factories, nurseries, shopping centres, restaurants, and defence or custodial environments requiring horizontal fire containment.
The Flameshield Horizontal Fire Curtain is designed for multiple horizontal (ceiling/floor) applications such as:
The Flameshield Horizontal Active Fire Curtain Barrier is an electrically operated fire containment system designed for horizontal applications, providing reliable fire separation within ceiling and floor voids. The system achieves 120 minutes fire integrity and 30 minutes radiation performance at 15 kW/m², tested in accordance with BS EN 1634-1, supporting compartmentation and life-safety strategies within complex building layouts.
The system comprises electric motors, a dedicated control panel and a high-performance fire-resistant fabric, forming a complete horizontal fire curtain barrier assembly. The curtain fabric is designed to maintain integrity during fire exposure while controlling radiant heat transfer, supporting occupant tenability and fire strategy objectives.
The Flameshield Horizontal Fire Curtain is fully compliance-tested and incorporates fail-safe operation, enabling deployment in the event of mains power or system failure. The curtain is suitable for integration within ceiling or floor constructions and can be concealed to minimise visual impact.
Architectural integration is supported through the availability of specialist RAL finishes for end plates, guides and head boxes, allowing the system to coordinate with interior design schemes without compromising fire performance.
A comprehensive range of ancillary safety equipment is available, including egress switches, access switches, obstruction detection, and heat and smoke activation, all tested in accordance with Annex H of BS 8524-1, supporting controlled deployment and safe operation within occupied buildings.
