A combination of Rockwool insulation and graphite intumescent powder designed to provide fire stopping and thermal insulation of pre-insulated pipe penetrations. Designed for use on copper, mild steel, polypropylene, HD polyethylene, ABS and PVC pipes passing through masonry and plasterboard walls and Rockwool Ablative Coated Batts.
The fire sleeves are designed to fire stop pipework operating at temperatures between 0°C and 180°C. At low temperatures, care should be taken to maintain the vapour barrier. They can considerably reduce the noise emission from noisy pipework - for higher standards of acoustic insulation, please refer to Rockwool ‘Techwrap2 and Techtube’ data sheet.
Rockwool insulation products do not contain blowing agents with an ozone depletion potential (ODP) or global warming potential (GWP), are CFC-HCFC-HFC free and 97% recyclable. They will not react with metal components or cause loss of plasticiser from PVC cables and pipes however; precautions should be taken when insulating austenitic stainless steel, regardless of insulation type. The product offers excellent thermal, acoustic and fire protection insulation without providing sustenance to vermin or encouraging the growth of fungi, moulds or bacteria.
The Fire Sleeves are supplied 300 mm long and are simply cut to the desired length. No specialist tools, mastics or ancillary materials are required for the fitting of the sleeves. To maintain the fire rating, the minimum allowable length of sleeve is 60 mm. The Fire Sleeves can accommodate irregularities in the wall/floor opening and the pipe overall diameter up to 15 mm. Multiple pipe penetrations can be accommodated in conjunction with Rockwool Ablative Coated Batts.

Standard product features | Insulated Fire Sleeves have been independently tested and assessed to BS 476: Part 20 for periods of up to 2 hours in concrete walls and floors, plasterboard partitions and ROCKWOOL Ablative Coated Batts. BRE Certified data is available relating to pipe size, division type and fire protection period. The use of Insulated Fire Sleeves can considerably reduce the noise emission from noisy pipework. ROCKWOOL Insulated Fire Sleeves have been tested to provide up to Rw 49 dB. ROCKWOOL insulation is chemically compatible with all types of pipes, ducts, equipment and fittings. (Guidance is given in BS 5970 regarding the treatment of austenitic stainless steel pipework and fittings). Stone wool insulation is chemically inert. A typical aqueous extract of ROCKWOOL insulation is neutral or slightly alkaline (pH 7 to 9.5). Dimensions:
Rockwool Insulated Fire Sleeves should be installed to the same thickness as the pipe insulation (minimum 25 mm). For un-insulated pipes, a minimum thickness of 25 mm is required to maintain the fire performance of the wall. |
