Application

  • Suitable for all building types including schools, hospitals, hotels and commercial and business centres.

Description

Kemwell Corex A1 is a non-combustible fire-resistant gypsum board, that has multiple fire tested solutions ranging from structural steel protection to ceiling applications.


Features and benefits:

  • Steel encased with Kemwell Corex A1 can maintain its load-bearing capacity for between 60 and 120 minutes.
  • The core is reinforced with special additives to enhance fire resistance.
  • Both sides are covered with a completely non-flammable fibreglass mat.
  • The board is classified as A1 non-combustible in accordance with EN 13501-1.
  • A1 COREX board is certified to ETA, GREENGUARD and EPD.
  • Can be installed up to 6 months early in the building program prior to the building being weather tight.
  • No mineral wool insulation required.
  • Joints taped and filled as normal on outer layer.


Boards can be fixed using staples (length suitable to board thickness) and Paslode Impulse IM200 / 50 S16 gun. For a more traditional fix steel angles and screws can also be used. Please contact Kemwell Fire for further information relating to the fixing type and method of these boards.

Framing

DU 75 track and DC 75 studs.

Manufacturer guidance

  • DU 75 track: (38 x 75 x 38 mm ; 0.5 mm thick).
  • DC 75 stud: (47 x 74 x 47 mm; 0.6 mm thick).

Linings

15 mm.

Guidance for specification option:

A double layer of 15 mm A1 COREX provides 60 minutes (EI60) fire resistance from both sides (according to Efectis classification report).

20 mm.

Guidance for specification option:

A double layer of 20 mm A1 COREX provides 90 minutes (EI90) fire resistance from both sides (according to Efectis classification report).

25 mm.

Guidance for specification option:

A double layer of 25 mm A1 COREX provides 120 minutes (EI90) fire resistance from both sides (according to Efectis classification report).

Manufacturer guidance

System uses two layers of A1 COREX board.

Fasteners

Coarse Drywall Screws.

Joint treatment

Joints must be taped and filled as normal on outer layer.

Finish

Plaster finish.

Guidance for specification option:

COREX A1 surfaces can finish with plaster. PVA primer coat should be applied before plastering the surfaces.

Paint finish.

Guidance for specification option:

COREX A1 surface can finish direct applied paint (straight to the board).

Manufacturer guidance

A1 COREX surface is not smooth surface as paper faced plasterboard surface. Plaster can be applied to the boards to provide a smooth surface. PVA primer coat should be applied before finishing the surfaces.

Reaction to fire

To EN 13501-1, Class A1.
