GP 54/33
Steel cast-in channel.
Firma cast in channel provides a simple fixing method with high load capacity. These channels provide a secure fixing solution for Firma Masonry Support Systems into concrete frame buildings.
By embedding a continuous anchor channel into the concrete slab, the system allows for high adjustability, enabling fast and efficient positioning of masonry support brackets. To facilitate for ease of installation, T-head bolts and lock nuts ensure a strong yet adjustable connection between the masonry support system and the anchor channels. Firma's 3 key channel options are: GP 54/33, GP 50/30, GP 40/223.
The Firma channel also provides the option of an incorporated slab edge trim system - Firma slabdeck.
Firma slabdeck is a bespoke manufactured concrete slab edging trim which incorporates one of the three main cast in channels. The product is designed and supplied to suit the slab thickness and also the required cantilever of the slab. The system also includes restraint straps to secure the edging and channel in the vertical position.
The cast-in channel is bolted to the back of the edge trim using sacrificial M8 dome head bolts and T-nuts, which must be removed before installing the masonry support. The edge trim is pre-drilled at 500 mm centers to accommodate anchor straps, which should be mounted at a maximum of 500 mm centers or closer if possible. Anchor straps must also be positioned within 150 mm of the edge trim's ends. Straps can be fixed using suitable rivets or zinc-coated self-drilling Tek screws.
Ensure the Firma Slabdeck edge trim is mounted vertically to allow masonry support or temporary edge protection to be fixed with minimal shimming or packing. Cover trims are provided for joints to prevent concrete egress during the pour and assist with alignment. These trims can be drilled and riveted or screwed into place. Alternatively, tape may be used to prevent leakage at the joints. Lengths of edge trim and channel can be cut on-site to suit conditions, but it is critical to position a channel stud within 150 mm of the trim's end.
