Green wall system for resilient, long-lasting living walls. CWCT certification and a non-combustible growing medium make it and ideal for living cladding projects.
Green wall living cladding system:
The BioPanel green wall system has been fully tested in accordance with the requirements for the Centre for Window and Cladding Technology (CWCT) and passed all tests for weather tightness, water resistance and wind resistance, confirming its full suitability and compliance for use as a cladding material for commercial and residential buildings.
The BioPanel living green wall system can be retrofitted into existing structures or used as a green wall rainscreen cladding in new building projects.
Green wall living cladding system
The BioPanel living green wall system was designed in 2007 to fill the demand for a reliable and compliant green wall system suitable for the construction sector.
It has since been used to create hundreds of living green walls across the UK and further afield, including prestigious projects like No.1 Court at Wimbledon and the Apple store in San Francisco.
BioPanel is the only evergreen green wall system to have undergone CWCT (Centre for Window and Cladding Technology) testing and is suitable for use as a living cladding system.
Features and benefits:
Modular panels:
The BioPanel living wall system consists of patented modular panels which include a water retentive, non-combustible stone wool growing medium, held in place by a recycled polypropylene (or aluminium) shell.
The planted panels are fixed through a void former and waterproof backing board to the secondary support structure.
Standard living wall panels are 600 x 450 mm. They can also be cut to suit. Biotecture will work with you on the green wall panel layout.
Growing medium:
The plants are grown in Grodan® a spun stone wool growing medium favoured by commercial growers because it creates a predictable environment for plant growth. It’s dimensionally stable, chemically inert, non-combustible and supremely water retentive making it ideal for living walls.
It is also made with 75% recycled content and is 100% recyclable through recognised schemes.
Irrigation:
The BioPanel green wall system includes an automatic remotely monitored irrigation system.
Irrigation pipelines run through the living wall and each 600mm x 450mm panel includes four irrigation drippers.
The BioPanel living wall system’s patented design allows careful control of the flow of water through the wall avoiding ‘pillowing’ in certain areas.
BioPanel requires a small plant room or weather-tight plant room cabinet at the height of the living wall or below.
Support structure:
The BioPanel living wall system requires a secondary support structure to provide 600 mm fixing centres for the backing board. Vertical cladding rails should have a 100 mm face. Biotecture recommend Omega Top Hat sections or the Hilti Helping Hand System.
