Application

Inward-opening aluminium-clad windows are designed for commercial and multi-storey buildings where internal access for cleaning and maintenance is required. Suitable for offices, hotels, mixed-use developments, and high-density urban sites with limited external access.

The inward-opening configuration is particularly appropriate for façades adjacent to pavements, narrow walkways, or service routes, where outward-opening sashes could present safety risks or obstruct pedestrian movement.

Description

Aluminium-Clad Timber Tilt & Turn Windows

System type:

Inward-opening tilt and turn aluminium-clad timber window system.

Construction:

  • Internal frame and sash: Engineered timber (hardwood or softwood as specified).
  • External face: Durable aluminium cladding, factory-finished, low-maintenance.

Operation:

  • Inward-opening tilt (ventilation) and turn (full opening) functionality.

Performance standards:

  • Weather performance:
    • Tested in accordance with BS EN 1026 / BS EN 1027.
    • Classification to BS EN 12207 (air permeability), BS EN 12208 (water tightness) and BS EN 12211 (wind resistance).
  • Thermal performance:
    • Uw values calculated in accordance with BS EN ISO 10077-1 / 10077-2.
    • Achievable Uw as low as 0.8 W/m²K, subject to configuration and glazing.
  • Acoustic performance:
    • Where specified, glazing to be tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 10140 and rated to BS EN ISO 717-1.
  • Safety glazing:
    • To BS EN 12150 / BS EN 12600, where required by location.

Security:

  • Secured by Design accredited.
  • Hardware tested to PAS 24 (where applicable).

Dimensions:

  • Maximum operable sash height: Up to 3000 mm, subject to wind load, glass specification and structural calculations.

Glazing:

  • Double or triple glazed insulated glass units.
  • Glass options: Selection of four performance types (thermal, solar control, acoustic, safety) as specified.
  • Insulated glazing units to BS EN 1279 series.

Finishes:

  • External aluminium cladding: Polyester powder-coated to BS EN 12206, colour from RAL range.
