Smoke windows for automatic opening smoke ventilation installed in vertical walls and facades. These window frames are developed to automatically open to expel smoke in the event of a fire. Tested to EN 12101-2:2003, the Addlite Vertical Smoke vent window system meets the stringent requirements of opening and closing and has been rigorously cycle tested for reliability and operation at 300°. The smoke vent window opens within 60 seconds to provide a safe and smoke free escape route.

AOV windows can be manufactured to meet 1 m2 airflow or a 1.5 m2 airflow depending on building requirements. They are available side hung or bottom hung up to 1200 x 1500 mm in single or double window configurations.

Free air calculations

These should be completed by the specialist actuator supplier to ensure that the airflow requirements meet current building regulations.

The Addlite AOV window is based on the REHAU TOTAL70 system. The system uses an actuator utilising both the reinforced 105.5 mm T Sash and 72 mm outer frame, with the sealed unit utilizing glazing clips.

Glazing

Glass units must be double glazed using 6 x 6 mm toughened glass made into a 28 mm unit with an aluminium spacer.

Reinforcement

All profiles, irrespective of size, must be reinforced. Manufacturing details must be strictly followed.

Window system

• All PVC-U profiles are to be extruded in accordance with BS EN 12608 and been certified Class A.
• All window profiles to be tested and certified by the British Standards Institute as ‘Severe’ weather rated.
• Colour: Windows are to be standard REHAU White RAL 9016 or foil option.
• All glazed windows are to be internally beaded.
• Double glazed units (28 mm): External pane: 4.0 mm toughened clear. Cavity: 20 mm 90% Argon-filled cavity with aluminium spacer bar. Internal pane: 4 mm Toughened Low E.

Single AOV (Automatic Opening Vent)

• 72 mm Outer frame 3 chamber – fully reinforced.
• 105 mm Door T sash 3 chamber – fully reinforced with steel.
• 28 mm Bead – Article number 546132.
• Angle bracket – (two per corner in sash glazing rebate using 3.9 mm and 16 mm stainless steel screws).
• Glazing clips – SECURI- CLIP SC125, Base Plate SB000 and GT011 Pink Packer.
• Sill: 95/150/180 mm options.

A.O.V. Window hardware

Hinge: Trojan “Patriot” 19 hinges. Three per jamb.

Note. Glass weight to be confirmed to ensure hinge is capable of carrying weight of glass unit.

Actuator: S.E. Controls SECO Single chain 900 stroke.

Performance

The performance of A.O.V windows shall be in accordance with:

• EN 12101-2:2003 Annex G: Heat exposure test
• EN 12101-2:2003 Annex F: Wind load test
• EN 12101-2:2003 Annex C: Reliability test

Ventilation

Project to be supplied and installed with NO TRICKLE ventilation.

Installation

All components and details in the manual must be used and followed. Any deviation will render the product unfit for purpose. It is therefore the responsibility of the fabricator/installer to ensure by the corresponding manufacturing process that all technical and legal requirements are met and the Addlite AOV window products meet the relevant Building Regulations and CE compliance.
