A former brownfield site on Ascot Road, Watford is undergoing a transformation to provide a new residential-led quarter with much needed new homes and retail space.This project, by development and investment company, Orion, will comprise of buildings between six and eight storeys, with 489 new homes for the private sector of which 35% will be affordable homes, in addition to two lower floors of retail space.Orion is leading the development process at Cassiobridge Quarter, which centres on regenerating under-utilised land and buildings, making them into landmark destinations and improving the local community with enhancedinfrastructure and aesthetics.RCM was appointed to supply its high-performance sheathing board, DensGlass which will make up part of the through wall system to an RC frame with a lightweight steel frame infill.DensGlass consists of a fibreglass mat with a gypsum core, designed to provide a high degree of protection from the elements in external cladding constructions.Widely recognised by the GOLD colour, DensGlass fiberglass mat gypsum sheathing board, has an exemplary track record that spans more than 30 years.Thanks to its ability to protect the building envelope against incidental moisture damage during and after construction, DensGlass Sheathing is a preferred substrate under brick, stone and rainscreen cladding and suitable for lightweight steel frame, timber frame, modular / offsite and concrete frame construction types.In addition to the above features, DensGlass is A1 non-combustible, CE marked, lightweight with easy scribe and snap properties.On completion of the project, Cassiobridge Quarter with its modern design will provide a stylish appearance to the area with much-needed homes and a new community for residents to enjoy.

Bourne Fields is the name of Cameron Homes’ flagship development of 14 exclusive five-bedroom luxury homes completed in August 2017. Located near Aldridge these homes command a price tag of up to £1,350,000 and are designed and finished to a very high specification. RCM were appointed by GAP Ltd to supply their Supertech Weatherboard in an Ebony stain finish to enhance the exterior appearance of these new-build exclusive homes.

A successful refurbishment of a disused building translated into 42 beautiful one and two bedroom apartments. The building ‘Cambridge House’ was enhanced externally by applying cladding and updated glazing. RCM supplied Vitrabond ACM cladding to the project. An additional, unforeseen opportunity also presented itself to RCM whilst working on the project.

Located on the former Anglia Ruskin University site, in the heart of Chelmsford, City Park West is a newly created vibrant community. The scheme started in 2013 and has already delivered homes and new green space with commercial units. The second phase includes the construction of 426 new homes, 4,900sqm of commercial floor space, new public open spaces and underground parking. RCM were appointed by Conneely Facades to supply fabricated Alucobond A2 cassettes, Y-wall sheathing boards, Aluminium façade support frame and fixings to the construction of phase 2.

A major development has seen the creation of some 300 contemporary new homes in the heart of a country park in Kent. The Conningbrook Lakes scheme was built by the Chartway group, a leading Kent based developer, with GDM Architects responsible for the main design. RCM were asked to supply their Supertech Weatherboard for the exterior of the different types of houses, ensuring an individual finish for the different house types.

A regeneration development in Vauxhall by the Ballymore Group has seen the biggest transformation story London has ever seen. It has added an entirely new urban quarter to London. The South Bank regeneration stretches from the Shard in the east to Battersea Power station in the west. The area known as Embassy Gardens is at the heart of Nine Elms and includes up to 1.750 new homes and over 20,000sqm of office and flexible workspace spread over 8 building plots covering an impressive 241,548 sqm. RCM’s Y-Wall was used in its construction.

The campus in Colchester, which is home to 15,000 students, is undergoing a massive phased transformation. Benx-RCM are currently supplying into phase three of the campus-build, known as The Pastures.Split across five new buildings, The Pastures will bring an additional 1,262 student bedrooms to the Colchester campus. One of these blocks will create a new hub which will include a reception, a post room, an administrative area and a student services centre, along with a laundrette and staff welfare facilities.Overseeing this £168 million project as main contactor is Bouygues Construction.Stanta were awarded the SFS infill package at the site. As part of this package, Benx RCM were selected to supply Y-Wall external sheathing board for the entire project.Y-Wall is a flexible calcium silicate based fibre cement building board, offering excellent fire properties as well as high levels of dimensional stability. The Y-Wall BBA Certification provided the Stanta project team with assurance that this building board solution has been tested to exacting standards, evaluated onsite, as well as undergoing a life expectancy assessment and a quality management system review.Y-Wall was utilised to create a sheathing for the five high rise structures. In buildings with storeys more than 18m above ground level, any products used in the external wall construction should be of limited combustibility. Being a non-combustible, A1 fire-rated building board, utilising BS EN ISO 1182 and BS EN ISO 1716 tests, Y-Wall is the optimum solution for a project of this type and size.In specifying the building board for this project it was important to ensure the optimum racking performance to enhance structural strength. Y-Wall conforms to European Norm - BS EN 594:2011 - the certification which proves the system has been rigorously tested and offers excellent racking performance, structural strength and stability.Specifying a building board that is fully tested to BS EN 1062-1 allows for adequate moisture resistance and durability. Y-Wall fully complies with this standard which ensures the building boards will have a life equal to that of the building. Selecting a building board with good external performance and durability is important, particularly through the build phase, as the product may be left exposed for several months prior to a secondary facade being installed over the top of the system. In order to generate speed and ease of construction, Y-Wall was supplied pre-cut to specified panel sizes. The fabrication work was undertaken by Benx Façades at its dedicated facility, to ensure a seamless process.

Forming part of a £400m Birmingham City Centre scheme the new 17 storey, 250 bedroom Holiday Inn Express forms part of the 2.3m square foot Arena Central mixed-use development. RCM supplied approx. 5,000m2 of ACM rainscreen cladding from Vitrabond, Trespa Meteon panels, the aluminium facade support framing system and fixings to this newly built hotel.

Plans were passed in 2012 for the construction of an outstanding hotel in Birmingham city centre. The build was the first in a group of five, four-star hotels planned to open over a period of five years under the Hotel La Tour brand. The 174 – bedroomed luxury hotel was developed at a cost of £24 million and comprises a restaurant, bar with terrace and conference facilities. RCM’s Cemboard was used as a primary sheathing board on the project

Manor Park is a new build development of 53 homes, located on the northern edge of Ashford in Kent. RCM supplied 216 planks of 190mm wide Supertech Weatherboard in a stained Light Oak finish. Plastestrip end and starter profiles (Plasticlad) were also supplied colour matched. Supertech Weatherboard proved to be the perfect choice as it has the beautiful look of natural wood without the need for costly maintena

Moneypenny engaged the help of AEW architects to design a new and exciting office environment. With space to house 1,000 staff, Moneypenny wanted to have a new headquarters, which were both efficient office spaces, as well as a great environment for its staff to operate in. In turn, Pochin asked RCM to supply its 12mm Cemboard to the construction, because of the building board’s excellent acoustic properties, which were a major consideration for the construction of the call-centre.

The UK’s leading telephone answering specialist Moneypenny had steadily been growing since its inception in 2000. Its main business is looking after telephone calls for businesses.To no one’s surprise, the company found itself struggling for space to accommodate its ever-expanding workforce. Staff ended up occupying five adjacent offices, which were physically separated from each other, as was the staff.A solution had to be found. It was decided to invest in and create a new modern office building befitting the growth and success of a successful modern-day enterprise.Moneypenny engaged the help of AEW architects to design a new and exciting office environment. With space to house 1,000 staff, Moneypenny wanted to have a new headquarters, which were both efficient office spaces, as well as a great environment for its staff to operate in. Staff members were asked for ideas for their new work environment. The industry norm was challenged and the resulting designs were an antithesis to most modern office buildings.Pochin Constructions were chosen as the main contractor to build the new headquarters. A 10-acre site was chosen in the open countryside for the amazing new office space, miles away from any inner city environment with all its noise and distractions.In turn, RCM were asked to supply its 12mm Cemboard to the construction, because of the building board’s excellent acoustic properties, which were a major consideration for the construction of the call-centreEventually, a 91,000 sq ft building had been designed and built, to create the perfect environment for call handlingThe end result was an amazing building, with plenty of natural day-light, excellent office facilities, with great down-time areas, complete with a tree house and a pub.Moneypenny’s new headquarters have exceeded everyone’s expectations. The new building provides the right balance between productivity and down-time. A true testament to imagination, good architecture and quality building materials.

In January 2008, the Devon Partnership NHS Foundation Trust approved plans for a major redevelopment of the Langdon Hospital site based in Dawlish. RCM were appointed by the NHS to provide the Renderflex building board – a high performance cellulose fibre cement render carrier board and Y-Wall – a calcium silicate board on the inner leaf of the wall construction. The client specified robust walls in all areas, especially within the patient wards, which made RCM’s boards ideal for the project.

Pen-Y-Bont is a development of new build waterfront properties in the popular seaside resort of Abersoch. A £3.5m investment has seen the creation of a mix of luxury waterfront properties, designed by SDA Architects, Leeds. RCM supplied its Supertech Weatherboard cladding to the construction, which enhanced the properties coastal feel and gave it a distinct and lasting impression.

Worcester has invested in a new £10m swimming pool as part of the city’s Perdiswell Leisure Centre refurbishment. RCM supplied the colourful Trespa® Meteon® cladding panels to the project, which were used on the outside of the pool area and entrance. RCM also supplied the colour-matched fixings and associated trims and the aluminium support frame system to this worthy project.

In 2012 the town of Walsall underwent a major regeneration. The Waterfront North site was developed and was based on 2.2 acres of brownfield land, where more than 300 homes and apartments, as well as a Premier Inn hotel were to be constructed. RCM were appointed by Whitbread to provide Y-wall, an advanced flexible calcium, silicate based fibre cement building board, for the construction of the Premier Inn. This was to be used as an external sheathing board, covering the structural steel frame, infilled with SFS steel.

Rathbone Market is one of six schemes in the UK that has been delivered by English Cities fund (ECf), a regeneration partnership between Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), Muse Developments and Legal and General. Part of the 680,000 sq ft Canning Town & Custom House regeneration area programme, Rathbone Market was designed by Project Orange and formed the third and final phase of the entire development. Continuing its long-standing relationship with John Sisk and Son, one of the main contractors to the programme, RCM supplied a whole host of products for the successful development of the project.

During the early 19th Century, a large section of the South Bank of the River Thames, London, comprised small wharves, docks and other industrial uses. In more recent years, the site has been used as a delivery depot, however, it is only now that the value of the site has been realised as a prime mixed-use location.

The University of Warwick is investing £49m into sport and wellness across the University with a brand new Sport and Wellness hub as the sporting centre of the campus. RCM were appointed by Sage Building Envelope Constructors to supply approx. 3,000m2 of Swisspearl rainscreen cladding in order to bestow the building with a modern and contemporary feel.

The Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre (DNRC) is a state of the art rehabilitation centre for the armed forces and potentially the nation. RCM supplied over 4,000 sheathing boards to the project.

The International Quarter is a unique mixed-use scheme providing an inspiring new business environment, designed to create spirit, space, community and culture. The project comprises 4,000,000 sq ft Grade ‘A’ office accommodation, 275,000 sq ft hotel space, 350 new residential units and associated community facilities.

The regeneration of Swansea’s old docklands has seen old, dilapidated warehouses transformed into exciting mixed-use projects. Residential, commercial, as well as valuable retail space now occupy the area, collectively known as ‘The Urban Village’. Construction of the new-build 9-storey residential apartment block by the main contractor R&M Williams, saw RCM engaged as an important supplier. As well as providing the essential aluminium support frame, RCM also ensured timely delivery of the colourful Swisspearl façade. Each panel was fabricated by RCM to exact specified size, saving precious time on the construction of the building.

The College Lane campus is currently undergoing an exciting three year development programme designed to transform the living space and surrounding recreational areas. RCM were appointed to supply their Y-wall system – a calcium silicate based fibre cement building board which offers excellent A1 Non-Combustible fire properties as well as high levels of dimensional stability. Being extensively used on timber frame structures, Y-wall provides the ideal solution.

The University of West England has added high-quality accommodation to its Frenchay campus. The buildings on Coldharbour Lane consist of townhouse-style accommodation and 23 self- contained flats. RCM were appointed by Unique Envelope Façade Solutions to supply over 1,000m2 of Rockpanel Metallics in order to add a special effect façade to the timber frame buildings.
