A Compressive Strength Test is a mechanical test which measures the maximum amount of compressive load the Retanol screed can bear before fracturing. Retanol Xtreme can achieve compressive strengths of up to 60 N/mm2 depending on aggregates and the amount of cement used. A Flexural Strength Test is also a mechanical test which measures the tensile strength of the Retanol screed. Retanol Xtreme can achieve flexural / bending tensile strengths of up to 8 N/mm2 depending on aggregates and the amount of cement used.

This is a point load test report on a Retanol Xtreme Fine Concrete screed installed at Cineworld in Speke (Liverpool). This screed was used as a direct substitute for concrete where concrete pours were deemed neither practical nor possible in certain areas. The Retanol Xtreme Fine Concrete dosage comprised the standard mix of 400ml of Retanol Xtreme and 62.5kg of cement mixed in a standard screed pump of 250 litres gross capacity, but with 20% of 6mm stone chippings added to increase the compressive strength of the screed to 60 N/mm².

To achieve the best results with Retanol screed additives, PCT Chemie recommends that the following types of cement should only be used: Type: Portland cements CEM I, or Portland composite cements CEM II (for example A-L, A-LL, B-L, B-LL). Please see the PCT Cement List for further information Class: 32.5 N + R/42.5 N + R (note that 52.5 is less suitable for screeds due to its higher strength which can increase the risk of cracking and deformation) Quality: Use standardized and QC-monitored cements Only the cement type categories highlighted in green in the following cement clearance list should be used when mixing Retanol screeds.

PCT ZE BONDING AGENT can be universally used to bond all cementitious screeds to suitable substrates. The simple mixture of 25 kg of Portland cement with the addition of 150 ml PCT ZE BONDING AGENT is unique, and is suitable for internal and external applications. High moisture resistance with no re-emulsification once dried. PCT ZE BONDING AGENT provides a guaranteed and extremely strong bond between the cementitious substrate and the subsequent new screed. This product is also suitable as a bonding agent for resin damp proof membrane coatings provided they are installed as per the manufacturer's recommendations, adequately sand blinded and fully cured. PCT site inspection and technical assessment is recommended.
