A unique renovation of a former Oast House in charming Yalding

Having been an established construction business for 37 years, Ian Saunders of Isaac Rose Properties Ltd was no stranger to a complex renovation such as this and therefore set about the development which included a total replacement of the original windows at the striking former Oast House in Yalding, a charming village in the Borough of Maidstone, Kent.

Back To Front Exterior, Hampshire

In 2016 Husband and wife Alex and Toby Hull bought a run-down 1940s ex-local authority house situated in a pretty Hampshire village within the South Downs National Park. The house needed a complete renovation to transform it into a space the young couple could both live and work from.

Bereco supply timber windows to character refurbishment in Sleaford

In the 1800s this outstanding property was once used to store horse drawn carts for a prominent estate in Sleaford. In the 1900s the estate sold the property on to a developer who then transformed the cart store into new homes. The current owners took the building on with the intention of further developing the space whilst maintaining the buildings character and authenticity.

Childhood Home Restored To Former Glory With Bereco Sash Windows

As featured on George Clarke’s Old House New Home (Channel 4) – Neil & Pip’s West Yorkshire property has been restored to its former glory with Bereco Traditional Sash Windows. It is said that ‘Home is where the Heart is’. Home cooking, playing as child and the views from the windows all stir fond memories and a sense of nostalgia in us as we recall a time when we were carefree and happy.

Contemporary sliding sash windows in keeping with traditional high street

With the expertise of Parker Joinery and the Bereco design team, each window was designed with a curved outside head facing which allows the head of the window to be straight whilst the sash perfectly follows the curvature of the external stonework arch. This detail, is popular in period properties where the internal brickwork is square in shape. This is a delicate process and involves CAD design work which our design team are extremely familiar with.

Dell Cottage, Farnham, Surrey

Dell Cottage is a family home situated in the town of Farnham, Surrey. Just over 3 years ago, a family bought a 1960’s style bungalow with the vision of remodelling the property to create a much larger home. After the renovation the property evolved into a 3600ft² home and the drastic transformation meant that new, bespoke windows and doors were needed for the entire project Stuart, the owner worked alongside a local builder for completion to take only 8 months. Bereco supplied the windows and doors for the entire property with the contemporary range being the perfect choice.

Edrom, Berwickshire

Situated in the stunning Berwickshire countryside Edrom is a magnificent development and conversion of former agricultural buildings into 8 luxury contemporary homes. Originally part of well-known local landmark Manderstone Estate the farm buildings have been sympathetically converted into striking 2, 3, 4 & 5 bedroom properties. The Grade A listed buildings date back to 1874 and have been derelict for many years when a full refurbishment of the listed landmark was undertaken. The architect had previously worked on a number of similar historic building conversions and felt the Bereco Traditional Range was able to offer the ideal products for Edrom.

Focus On Acoustic - 1 the Pastures

This new build property in London is located close to a main road with high levels of noise causing concern for the client. After researching the options on acoustic products, the client opted for glazing within their windows and doors that offered sound insulation to reduce the noise at the front of the property. 39dB Rw glass was suggested by the acoustic consultants to bring the levels down to a comfortable level. The developer knew that Bereco would find a solution to satisfy the client. Tested through BM Trada Bereco could offer the client the acoustic glazing they required.

Focus On Grade 2 Listed Buildings, Acron Village

In 2004 Bereco were approached by Redrow homes to work with them on a project that needed to meet strict conservation guidelines as well as compliment Redrow’s offering of high quality homes and developments.

A striking London Victorian Terrace located in the heart of Kensington. This restoration project has been a labour of love for the clients who have successfully restored their home to its former glory under the strict guidelines for the Edwardes Square conservation area.

Focus On Social Housing – St Matthews Estate, Brixton

St Matthew’s estate in Brixton was a grey, crime ridden housing development constructed in the late 1960’s when two social landlords were brought on board by Lambeth council to remodel the estate. The redevelopment included 12 new zero energy homes for shared ownership which went on to win the Low Energy Building of the Year Awards in 2006. Bereco manufactured the energy efficient timber tilt and turn windows and patio doors for the new homes and were designed with top specification 24mm glazing systems to give optimal energy performance, without, the zero energy rating would not have been achieved.

Fulham College Boys' School

Bereco supplied Traditional style replacement timber windows to the Fulham College Boys’ School and Sash Windows London were chosen to work alongside WS Builders to undertake this challenging installation of over 130 replacement windows within a strict timescale.

Georgian Style for Contemporary Living: Burgess Hill

Wooden sliding sash spiral balance windows, flush french doors, and entrance doors from our Contemporary Range were the perfect choice for ensuring a traditional style yet with a modern twist. Each elegant sliding sash window was painted in RAL 9001 Cream which provides warmth and perfectly offsets the red brickwork finish. The 16mm Georgian bar design ensures maximum daylight whilst creating perfect symmetry.

Glentruim Castle

The truly stunning Glentruim Castle is situated near to the rivers Spey & Truim close to the village of Newtonmore in Invernesshire, Scotland. Located at the gateway of Caingorm, Britain’s largest National Park, the surrounding breath taking scenery can be seen from all aspects of the castle.

Glorcroft, kings Avenue

In June 2011 Bereco worked with building company Glorcroft to replace the existing windows at 1-32 Kings Avenue in Woodford Green, Redbridge. As part of work to redevelop the one-bedroom flats for elderly residents, Bereco supplied Traditional Flush Casement windows for 10 properties.

Grade 2 Listed Cattle Barn Keeps Its Character

With the building being Grade II listed it was very important that the design of the new windows matched the original frames as closely as possible. Upon researching a number of timber window companies the family approached Bereco in the knowledge that we have supplied our wooden windows and doors to many listed properties over the years including the local Thrum Mill. The family were then introduced to our local suppliers Blackthorn Timber Windows whom we knew also had experience of listed properties and were ideally placed for undertaking such a historic restoration.

History and Future meet with metal accents at the Tin Tab

CAD visualizations were essential at design stage to help visualize the unique bar designs made up of a traditional 35mm bar and the client was delighted with the finished design which matched the original windows, and the overall quality of finish. All bars were designed to ensure the correct glazing pane sizes to transform this unique corrugated metal building. Satin chrome ironmongery was the perfect choice to mimic the distinct metal accent of the exterior.

Home Building & Renovating, Bankhall House, Cheshire

Bankhall House is a classically inspired house and won the prestigious ‘Daily Telegraph Best Traditional House’ award in 2010. The proud owners have created a truly beautiful home, inside and out, undertaking a luxurious build individually designed to suit their every need. Each element of the build has been carefully thought out with products chosen to mirror the period features of the house. Bereco supplied the timber windows and doors for the project, creating truly bespoke designs from the Traditional Range, the products supplied include French Doors, Entrance Doors, Sliding Sash and Tilt and Turn screens.

Laurel House, Wadhurst, East Sussex

Mr & Mrs Curran purchased Laurel House in 2011 with the vision of creating their ideal family home. Although the house already had a good number of bedrooms, they wanted to change the positon of the kitchen and increase the ground floor space to suit their needs.

Mizen Way Cobham

Bereco were recommended to the owner of Flagship Homes for the redevelopment of his own property in Mizen Way, Cobham. Flagship are specialists in both new build and renovations projects and have over 25 years’ experience. The products chosen were Sliding Sash windows to reflect the regency style of the property and Juliet Balconies to the rear had opening in French Doors. Since working on his own house, Flagship Homes have been recommending Bereco’s products with many clients preferring the Bereco products against other manufacturers who have been known to be twice the price.

Modern Rustic Renovation; The Garden House, Farnham

As featured in Country Living & House Beautiful Magazines this 1970's bungalow was remodeled by Nina Jex transforming the property into a contemporary family home with open plan living. For the Jex family the windows and doors were a key part of the renovation opting for Flush Casement Windows; Folding Doors, French and Entrance Doors from the Bereco Traditional Range. One of our recent signature projects has given us the opportunity to work again with Benjamin Allen Bespoke Homes. On this occasion we supplied curved head entrance doors, spiral balance sliding sashes with specialist bar designs and a front door fanlight for the Old Market Garden – the ‘dream home’ of Allen and Michelle Dawson, who are the owners of Benjamin Allen.

Preserving the Character of a Charming Historic England Listed Home

Once a former Post Office, this characterful home, albeit loved for a long time by a previous family, had not been well maintained and was in serious need of restoring to its former glory. Situated in one of England’s most picturesque villages, this listed family home was patiently awaiting a new owner who would be willing to take on the challenging yet rewarding experience of bringing the building back to life. This was the challenge that the new owners lovingly and bravely took on.

Restoration Man, Thrum Mill, Rothbury, Northumberland

Margaret and Dave Hedley bought the Grade ll listed Thrum Mill in Rothbury, Northumberland three and a half years ago. For the last two years the couple have been working alongside Channel 4’s Restoration Man programme that has been tracking the mill’s gradual transformation. The project has been a true labour of love for the Hedley’s as they are project managing and completing much of the renovation work themselves.

Seagate Homes – Individually Built Traditional Homes

Award winning housebuilders Seagate Homes are known for their traditional, high specification homes individually designed to complement the local architecture and landscape. Built in 2013, Stonebrook is a stone built detached property located in the conservation village of Castor. Surrounded by open countryside the build faced challenges with planning application refusals dating back to 2005. When planning permission was granted it was essential that all building materials were sympathetically chosen to compliment the traditional appearance of other properties in the village. A combination of Casement windows, Folding Doors, Sliding Sash windows and Doors from the Classic Range completed the look.

Silence and the City – Ambient Noise Reducing Sliding Sash Windows

Bereco noise reducing sliding sash windows provided the perfect mix of design compatibility, high energy ratings needed to satisfy Code for Sustainable Homes, and most importantly a dB rating that surpassed the requirement. With a glazing dB rating of 46dB, the overall window provides a rating of 42dB and a Bluesky A rating. We were able to supply test evidence and certification which supports the data, therefore offering complete clarity and assurance.

The Meeting House

The Meeting House is located near the pantiles, a Georgian colonnade, in the picturesque conservation village of Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent. Originally built as a Methodist chapel in the 18th century, the historic building has since been converted into a luxury office space.
