For use with the HI-FOG® water mist fire protection system.
The pump unit is the main part of a HI-FOG® high-pressure water mist fire protection system. It supplies the pressurized water to the system.
The HI-FOG® Land Pump Unit (LPU) is a modular pump unit, available in nine sizes. The pump unit consists of a control cabinet and 1–9 motor pump modules. The number of motor pump modules defines the size of the pump unit. The motor pump modules are stacked on base modules, forming together 1–3 towers called LPU modules. The LPU modules can be positioned freely in the pump room, to any locations that meet the service area requirements. An LPU module consists of 1–3 motor pump modules and the base module. In the pump unit, there is always one primary LPU module called the Master LPU module, which is equipped with sensors and manual valves. In pump units of more than three motor pump modules, there are also slave LPU modules without those features.
The control cabinet operates the pump unit automatically with programmable logic controllers (PLC). The LPU has several methods of activation. The pump unit activates automatically or is activated manually, both locally or by a remote start signal. The LPU is designed to start the motor pump modules sequentially upon activation, thus not creating as high electric current peaks as if started at the same time.
