The Kingspan KoolDuct System of pre-insulated ductwork is designed for use in building services / HVAC applications. It is suitable for both new build and residential, commercial, public, light industrial and leisure sectors.

Description

Designed for mechanical ventilation, heating and air-conditioning systems, The Kingspan KoolDuct System is suitable for both new build and refurbishment projects in the residential, commercial, public, light industrial and leisure sectors. Moreover, it is especially suitable for use in nonferrous applications such as MRI scanning units in hospitals, and on other high specification projects where non-fibrous insulants may be preferred.

Ductwork design and frictional resistance:

Kingspan KoolDuct rectangular ductwork, including fittings, follows the same calculation principles and duct sizing methods as are used for rectangular metal ductwork.

The frictional resistance is comparable with that of galvanized sheet steel ductwork.

Features and benefits:

  • Low air-leakage – can meet meet air–leakage Class C and D (ref. BS EN 1507: 2006; BS EN 13403: 2003 and BESA DW/144).
  • Installed cost savings – can provide an ideal value engineered ductwork solution.
  • Space saving – fits flush to ceiling.
  • Faster installation – up to three times faster.
  • Single fix installation – one less trade onsite and less disruption for others.
  • Over 70% lighter than sheet metal ductwork) – can overcome severe constraints on structural loading.
  • Non-fibrous insulation.

Operational limits:

The recommended operational limits for ductwork fabricated from the Kingspan KoolDuct® System:

  • Mean air velocity (maximum): 25.4 m/s.
  • Design pressure (maximum): Positive: 1000 Pa, Negative: 750 Pa.
  • Internal air temperature: -20ºC to +80ºC during continuous operation.
  • Size: Unlimited (provided that recommended Kingspan KoolDuct® fabrication techniques and installation procedures are strictly observed)
  • Outdoor ductwork must be protected with a compatible weatherproof.

Standards:

- Quality Control:

Kingspan KoolDuct panels are manufactured to the highest standards under a management system certified to:

  • BS EN ISO 9001: 2015 (Quality Management Systems. Requirements).
  • BS EN ISO 14001: 2015 (Environmental Management Systems. Requirements).
  • BS ISO 45001: 2018 (Occupational health and safety management systems) and
  • BS EN ISO 50001: 2018 (Energy management systems. Requirements with guidance for use).

Sustainability:

The insulation core of Kingspan KoolDuct® panels is manufactured with a CFC / HCFC-free blowing agent that has very low Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and low Global Warming Potential GWP < 5.

BREEAM – ductwork fabricated from The Kingspan KoolDuct® System can contribute directly, and indirectly, toward the achievement of credits in the building rating system, BREEAM. The relevant credits are Ene1 – Reduction of energy use and carbon emissions Mat 1 – Life Cycle Impact, Mat 3 – Responsible sourcing of materials.
