Aluminium ultra low height joist holders are available 17 mm or 27 mm high, with inside steps in the side walls to fix the Wallbarn aluminium joist/ rail onto the inside surface.

The walls of the joist holder have ledges/ steps on the inside to support the outer edge of our profiled rails / joists. The rails can be set at different positions along the inside of the joist holder walls to achieve varying heights (or angles for unlevel floors). An additional spreader plate can be fitted beneath the joist holder to prevent point loading onto more vulnerable surfaces.

It is is important to fix the rails to the joist holder by pre-drilling and fixing self-tapping screws (supplied by Wallbarn) into the sides of the joist holder. This creates a secure and adjustable height support system to lay either decking to the rail using Wallbarn W Clip; or paving via special paving headpiece which can slide along the rail into position.

When used with Wallbarn aluminium joists, these joist holders can create a strong and secure substructure from as low as 17 mm for decking boards or tiles/ slabs to be placed. This is ideal for retro-fit and non-combustible, fire rated refurbishment projects.
