Summary
A decorative, sound-absorbent acoustic plaster finish that appears as smooth as regular plaster.
A decorative, sound-absorbent acoustic plaster finish that appears as smooth as regular plaster.
Application

Acoustic plaster for use in offices, hotels, receptions, luxury homes, leisure facilities, restaurants and high-specification homes where the designers' desire for hard flat surfaces can lead to noise reverberation problems. 3-4 mm base coat applied to baseboard. Spray and trowel application by Oscar Acoustics trained in-house teams.

Acoustic plasters are not suitable for walls below a height of 2m from the floor. Spray and trowel application by ISO 14001 certified Oscar Acoustics trained in-house teams.

Oscar Elite is applied in two operations:

• High density mineral batts are directly fixed to the substrate using adhesive. The base coat is then spray applied, trowelled flat and left to dry.

• Once dry the topcoat is spray applied. When the topcoat is dry the surface is sanded to an exceptionally fine plaster-like finish.

To meet a required acoustic performance Oscar Elite is applied either:

• Onto high density 20mm or 40mm glass fibre batts that are fixed directly to the substrate.

• Onto high density 20mm or 40mm glass fibre batts that are fixed to a plasterboard substrate, taped and jointed.

Oscar Elite installations include:

Four Seasons Hotel Trinity London, Parliament Square, Hampton Court Palace, Clore Learning Centre ,Colchester Visual Arts Centre, Hilton London Bankside and ROVI restaurant Ottolenghi.

Description

An exceptionally smooth acoustic plaster finish with the appearance of conventional plaster by Oscar Acoustics, Britain's leading supplier of architectural acoustic finishes.

27mm or 47mm thick decorative, highly sound-absorbent ceiling and wall covering, installed by Oscar Acoustics' specialist in-house installation teams.

Oscar Elite acoustic plaster can be applied directly onto plasterboard, smooth concrete and is suitable for flat, domed and vaulted soffits. Oscar Elite is an elegant and seamless alternative to rigid acoustic panel ceilings for class-leading acoustics without compromising on design.

Features and benefits:

  • All Oscar Elite acoustic plaster and SonaSpray acoustic spray projects qualify for Bronze level – Sownd Certification – an inclusivity certification for ensuring inclusive spaces for those with hearing or visual impairments and neurodiversity. For more information please visit https://www.sownd.co.uk/.
  • Typically appears smoother than conventional painted plaster but with the advantage of high-performance acoustic properties.
  • Acoustic plaster spray controls sound reverberation in buildings by absorbing sound energy instead of reflecting it, thereby reducing reverberation times and overall noise levels, giving clarity to speech and music.
  • It can be applied directly onto plasterboard or smooth concrete.
  • Suitable for flat, domed and vaulted soffits.
  • Available in two acoustic plaster surface finishes and can be over-sprayed in a different colour using SonaColour if required.
  • The standard white acoustic plaster finish provides a light reflectivity of 94%.
  • Acoustic plaster spray is easy to maintain through vacuuming or dusting.

Fire rating:

A2-s1, d0 and Class 0 to BS 476 - significantly betters the requirements of the new Approved Document B providing little to no smoke and absolutely no droplets, assisting in the safe escape of occupants. Fire certificates available.

Emissions:

M1 emission class certified for building materials (best class) and CDPH compliant.

Recycled content:

Glasswool: 75%

Flangeless fittings:

90% of flangeless fittings do not work properly with any acoustic finish. If you are specifying a flangeless fitting, please contact Oscar Acoustics for advice.

Sound absorption:

Acoustic testing has been carried out against concrete. Substrates likely to provide increased performance include plasterboard with the use of an air gap behind, rib deck or profiled metal sheet. Please contact Oscar Acoustics’ technical department for free design assistance.

Materials:

Combination of base board, base and top coats.

Quality assurance: Oscar Elite installations use only the best materials available which are installed by ISO 14001 certified Oscar Acoustics trained installers using only authorised equipment.

Colour: Consult with Oscar Acoustics for availability of colours and to obtain samples.  Oscar adds colour pigment to the coating during the spraying process to achieve pastel colours.

Surface finish: A decorative, highly sound-absorbent finish that appears as smooth plaster.
