Class B (B-s1,d0) flame-retardant W1 breather membrane for use in both walls and roofs. This weathertight fire rated membrane is suited to high-rise tall buildings 18m+ in England & 11m+ in Scotland
Application

FlameOUT® Breathe Class B is suitable for wall and pitched roof installations in safety critical structures over 18 m in England and 11 m in Scotland.

Storage and handling:

  • Store membrane rolls horizontally in a cool, dry sheltered store.
  • Handle the material with care and ensure that the membrane is not creased or folded.

Installation:

  • Secure to the supporting structure using stainless steel staples.
  • It is recommended that the membrane is installed vertically.
  • For corners, loosely wrap the membrane around the corner and seal the recommended overlap with FlameOUT® Tape or fix with staples.

Bonding to surfaces:

  • Make sure that surfaces are clean and free from dust and grease.
  • Stainless steel staples can be used to fix the membrane to timber studs.
  • Double-sided FlameOUT® Tape can be used to fix to wood, foams, metal, and plastics. Test any surface prior to installation. It is not advisable to attach to insulation due to the unstable surface.
  • FlameOUT® Breathe is Class B-s1,d0 when free hanging or directly installed on a supporting structure with a flame-retardant classification of A1 or A2.
  • Protect the membrane from UV exposure.
  • Cover and finish the installation within a maximum of 3 months.

Tape:

  • FlameOUT® Tape should be used to seal 100 mm overlaps.
  • A single continuous row of the double-sided FlameOUT® Tape should be laid to create a waterproof seal within the 100 mm overlap.
  • If the membrane is installed vertically then overlaps should be 150 mm.
  • Use a hand-held roller to aid adhesion.

Repairs:

  • Small punctures in the membrane after installation can be repaired with a patch of FlameOUT® Breathe Class B large enough to extend approx 150 mm beyond the penetration. Adhere using FlameOUT® Tape.

See installation instructions for full details.
