Millworks standard grade is A/B Grade offering a largely clear appearance with 15% tolerance for limited defects such as knots and surface irregularities. Minimal cutting may be required to remove defects such as knots and splits however the majority of boards will be clear grade in their full length. Similar to BS 1186-3 Class 1/Class 2.
Millworks A Grade timber is a high-quality grade, featuring primarily clear flat-sawn boards that showcase unique and interesting grain patterns. This grade is characterised by long, clear sections of timber with limited isolated defects, such as small knots and irregularities. Similar to BS 1186-3 Class 1.
Millworks VG (Vertical Grain) is premium grade, quarter-sawn with growth rings cut at 60-90° to the board face. Millworks careful re-grading process ensures that the majority of grain runs parallel to one another, resulting in timber with minimal grain deviation and very few natural growth characteristics. Similar to BS 1186-3 CSH/Class 1.
