The Touring Hotel

The Touring Hotel & Restaurant in Fiorano Modenese first opened in 1991 and provides a retreat for travellers seeking a taste of authentic Emilia-Romagna. With its warm hospitality, elegant accommodations, and a renowned restaurant serving traditional local cuisine, the Touring Hotel & Restaurant is the perfect destination for those who appreciate both relaxation and fine dining.

The hotel recently underwent a significant transformation, not only in its physical appearance but also in its commitment to safety. To ensure the highest level of fire protection, the hotel partnered with Gorzanelli srl, a local company specialising in security systems, to install a state-of-the-art fire detection system using Hochiki Europe’s innovative technology.

 At the heart of the new system is a Latitude control panel, configured with the optional ‘Hotel Mode’ software feature for optimal performance in hospitality environments. This intelligent panel monitors a network of ESP intelligent sensors, visual alarm devices (VADs), sounders, and manual call points, providing real-time data on potential fire threats.

One of the most challenging aspects of the installation was the extensive size of the restaurant and hotel rooms, which made traditional fire cabling difficult. To overcome this obstacle, Gorzanelli srl, with the guidance of Eter Biometric Tecnologies, implemented an Ekho Hybrid Wireless system.  This powerful and versatile technology proved to be the ideal solution, offering flexibility and reliability even in challenging environments.

The hotel opted for a combination of optical, thermal, and multi-criteria Ekho sensors, ensuring comprehensive coverage across all areas via a ‘mesh network’. The Hochiki Ekho wireless system operates using a self-configuring mesh network topology which allows wireless field devices to determine the strongest signal pathway back to the fire control panel.

These sensors were pre-programmed off-site, streamlining the installation process and minimising disruption to the hotel’s day to day operations.
