OVERVIEW
The Project:
The Stockport Interchange project stands as one of the largest and most ambitious developments outside of London, playing a pivotal role in Stockport’s £1 billion town centre regeneration. This mixed-use development, which includes 196 residential homes, is the result of a joint venture between Stockport Council, Transport for Greater Manchester, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, and development partner CityRise. The project began in 2022 and was completed in 2024, with Willmott Dixon acting as the main contractor. The aim was to create a modern residential space integrated with a new transport hub, improving connectivity and quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
The Challenge:
Given the scale and complexity of the Stockport Interchange development, Willmott Dixon needed to ensure the integration of efficient, secure, and scalable mail and parcel delivery systems for the residential sector. This was essential not only for the functionality of the development but also to meet future demands for parcel deliveries, given the growing trend of online shopping. Additionally, the systems needed to complement the development’s sleek and contemporary architectural design while ensuring ease of access for residents. The client required a solution that could be installed efficiently within the tight project timelines, with flexibility to accommodate any changes and adaptions as the project progressed.
Our Solution:
To meet the needs of the project, The Safety Letterbox Company provided a combination of H1 mailboxes and myRENZbox intelligent parcel boxes, specifically chosen to suit the development’s requirements. The H1 mailboxes, installed in wall recesses, offered flexibility due to the available space. These mailboxes were finished in Black Blue Matt RAL 5004, which not only complemented the building’s modern aesthetic but also provided durability and security.
The myRENZbox intelligent parcel boxes were incorporated into the design, offering residents a secure and convenient solution for receiving parcels. The smart technology embedded in these parcel boxes allowed for 24/7 access to parcels, providing residents with the convenience of safe deliveries, even when they were not at home. These systems were installed in line with the project's schedule and adjusted as necessary to fit the evolving needs of the development.
