OVERVIEW
For the vibrant and eclectic Mama Shelter hotel and restaurant in Shoreditch, London, our terrazzo tiles were selected to deliver bold design, exceptional durability, and a seamless connection between hospitality and dining spaces. Spanning 500m², the project required flooring that could withstand heavy foot traffic while embodying the brand’s playful, contemporary aesthetic.
The project combined three distinct terrazzo styles to achieve a unique and dynamic flooring scheme. The Genoa Terrazzo Essential introduced depth and texture, while the London Light Grey Terrazzo Essential provided a versatile, neutral foundation. To enhance the design further, a bespoke sandblasted R11 terrazzo tile was developed specifically for this project, featuring circular inserts on a London Light Grey base. This custom element added movement and visual intrigue, reflecting Mama Shelter’s bold and unconventional design language.
The 50cm x 50cm format was chosen to create a balanced, rhythmic layout that works seamlessly across both hotel and restaurant areas. Beyond its striking visual appeal, the terrazzo flooring delivers high slip resistance, long-lasting durability, and low maintenance - all essential for a high-traffic hospitality setting. At Mama Shelter Shoreditch, terrazzo proved to be both functional and highly creative, bringing personality to the space while becoming a defining feature of the interior that unites design, practicality, and brand identity.
