OVERVIEW
Overview
73 Powrmatic Vision air conditioning units were installed across an entire modular built assisted care home in South Wales which provided efficient cooling and heating for each guest room. Powrmatic were able to supply a wall mounted packaged air conditioning/heat pump automatic cooling and heating system for their design and build of a modular Care home project, constructed in Cardiff, South Wales.
Background
For this constructed modular building assisted care home, the mandate provided to Powrmatic stipulated there could be no external condensers, pipework, or any bracketry to be attached to the building facade, as it had to retain its modern elevation. Powrmatic were able to supply a wall mounted packaged air conditioning/heat pump automatic cooling and heating system for their design and build of a modular Care home project, constructed in Cardiff, South Wales. It is a requirement in the care home sector that all surfaces need to *Cool Touch* to protect residents who have reduced sensory perception, and the Vision range meets this requirement, as all models have a surface temperature equal to the room only. There is no high radiant heat omitted from the casing surface.
Solution
The building consisted of 73 individual apartments, of various physical layouts. The Powrmatic Vision Wall-mounted twin duct heat pump air conditioning unit, with both Vision 2.3 DWs, and Vision 3.1 DWs, models were selected due to the various room size within the overall layout. The main contractor needed only to supply a 13 amp plug socket within 1 meter of each unit, as each unit is provided with its own 13 amp plug top, for the energy requirement. The installer was able to drill the 2 x 160 mil core holes for the rear ducts, and install each Vision, at a rate of 4 a day, so the overall install of the full system was carried out in just over 3 weeks, from start to commissioning each unit.
Result
This care home air conditioning solution allows the customer to have a fully automatic heating and cooling system, with a COP of 3.2, enabling low energy consumption 24/7, all fully managed by an inbuilt WIFI system, as well as enabling each individual user to have his personal own remote control. All the above was installed without any external attachments to the building faced, which retained its unobstructed, original modern brick aesthetic.
