JS Air Curtains provides vital ingredient at Town Hall Hotel

OVERVIEW

JS Air Curtains has supplied and installed a stylish, electrically heated Zen air curtain at the luxury, boutique Town Hall Hotel in Bethnall Green, London. It provides a vital ingredient in the dining experience of its restaurant’s clientele by keeping draughts out when the door is open and maintaining a comfortable internal atmosphere.

Originally built in 1910, the award winning Town Hall Hotel combines Edwardian architectural splendor with contemporary design in the heart of London’s East End. Its innovative and popular Viajante restaurant faces the main road with imposing wooden doors always open to welcome guests and its soft closing inner lobby glass doors in constant use. The hotel’s facilities team approached JS Air Curtains when Viajante’s reception staff highlighted that cold draughts were affecting the comfort of both staff and clientele throughout the restaurant and bar area.

JS proposed installing a 1.5m air curtain from its Zen designer range because its simple, stylish aesthetics would blend unobtrusively into the restaurant’s interior design.

Following the initial specification, the JS project management team expertly coordinated the delivery, installation and commissioning of the Zen air curtain to minimize any disruption or inconvenience to the Town Hall Hotel and its guests.

“To ensure our customers enjoyed dining in a comfortable ambient temperature, it was essential for us to find a solution to the constant influx of cold air from the street,” explained Town Hall Hotel’s assistant chief engineer, Chris Kelly. “The JS air curtain immediately solved the problem and has been in almost constant use since it was installed. Our reception and waiting staff are delighted too.”

Town Hall Hotel selected standard anodized aluminium covers for their Zen air curtain which can also be fitted with bespoke, stainless steel or wood fascia in a gloss, matt or brushed finish. The central structure is made of zinc plated steel finished in RAL 9913 black forge as standard with any other RAL colour available on request.

The Zen is offered with electric or water heaters, and as an air only model. The discharge vents have airfoil shaped vanes to direct the airflow creating a tighter seal across a doorway. Low noise, double inlet centrifugal fans with external rotor motors provide up to 6,475m3/h airflow, making the Zen ideal for doorways up to 3.5m high.
