The Project:

The Hammersmith Town Hall Regeneration is a landmark mixed-use development in London, designed to transform the historic site into a vibrant, modern community. The project includes the refurbishment and extension of the existing Grade II-listed Town Hall, providing a diverse range of residential, commercial, and public service offerings

Designed by world-renowned RSHP architects, the development delivers 204 new one and two-bedroom apartments, is at the heart of this transformation. The development supports a sustainable urban lifestyle with modern infrastructure, efficient transport links, and environmentally conscious design.

The combination of private, build-to-rent, and affordable housing ensures a diverse and inclusive community, making it one of the most exciting and forward-thinking neighbourhoods in West London.

Ardmore Construction approached The Safety Letterbox Company to deliver the mailbox requirements for the development, ensuring that the solutions provided met both the aesthetic and functional needs of the project. The collaboration required a high level of attention to detail, particularly in aligning the mailboxes with the high-end design features of the development while maintaining fire safety compliance.

The Challenge:

The project required collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including architects, designers, and the construction company, Ardmore Construction. A key challenge was the design requirement of incorporating a distinctive brass stripe running through the centre of the mailbox banks, which needed to be carefully integrated while ensuring both aesthetic appeal and functionality. Additionally, the mailboxes needed to meet fire safety regulations without compromising on style.

Another significant challenge was ensuring the mailboxes fit seamlessly within the allocated spaces while maintaining accessibility and user convenience. Given the mixed-use nature of the development, the mail solutions had to cater to a diverse range of residents, including private homeowners, build-to-rent tenants, and those in affordable housing. Each mailbox bank had to be positioned for easy access while aligning with the high-end finish of the interiors.

Balancing security, fire safety compliance, and a modern, stylish design required a tailored approach to product selection and installation.

Our Solution:

To meet the project's high standards, The Safety Letterbox Company supplied and installed a combination of 2-hour fire-rated FR2 mailboxes and RENZ anodised mailboxes in gold. These were wall-recessed and designed with a sleek, modern aesthetic that complemented the development’s premium architectural vision.

The chosen mailboxes were finished in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey with gold elements, seamlessly integrating with the overall interior design while maintaining compliance with stringent fire safety regulations. The incorporation of the brass stripe detail ensured that the mailboxes aligned perfectly with the high-end finishes required for the development.

In addition to ensuring compliance with fire safety standards, the mailboxes were engineered to provide a secure and user-friendly mail management system for residents. The in-front/out-front retrieval system allows for convenient access, reducing congestion in high-traffic communal areas.

Our team worked closely with Ardmore Construction and the design team to ensure seamless integration within the wall-recessed spaces, ensuring that the installation was both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
