Cambridge Station

OVERVIEW

A key design feature of the new station in Cambridge was to achieve a perforated design using the metal rainscreen cladding.

The perforations within the cladding were intended to provide passive security and ventilation to the glazed areas around the concourse as well as views across the site.

Spanwall worked closely with the contractor to engineer its RF50-FR rainscreen system for the project.

The perforated aluminium cladding system was fabricated and finished in a polyester powder coated metallic silver.

This units were installed in two sections and lifted into position during a short window through the night to minimise disruption to passengers and staff.
