OVERVIEW
An Artful Residence
The Camberwell College of Arts campus in London is benefiting from a £62 million regeneration, led by architects Stephen Marshall LLP. The project includes a regeneration of the existing ‘Brutalist’ 1970s building, a new academic building and Gardens House, a new 264-room residence for students.
The facade of the new student residential block features an attractive open rainscreen.
“We used Powerlon UV Colour FR for areas of perforated cladding where the perforations were greater than fifty percent of the panel area. The membrane needed to be waterproof, breathable and UV stable. We also wanted a dark, neutral background to the perforations. The UV Colour membrane suited this application perfectly,” said architect Jess Paull.
Powerlon UV Colour FR also offers superior flame retardant protection, being Class 0 (Building Regulations 2000 Approved Document B) and Class B-s2,d0 (EN 13501-1). It is supplied exclusively by Industrial Textiles & Plastics Ltd, a North Yorkshire manufacturer with specialist expertise in flame retardant and chemical barrier materials.
The breather membrane is available in eight attractive, unprinted solid colours, offering architects exciting and creative design possibilities.
