OVERVIEW
Project Overview
Buildtec Acoustics was appointed by Advanced Screeding to deliver an effective acoustic flooring solution for the conversion of a two-storey office building on Belmont Road in Maidenhead into 22 residential flats with associated parking. Our contribution began at the initial technical assessment stage and supported Advanced Screeding in presenting a cost-efficient, installable acoustic underlay solution that met the design brief and logistics demands of the site.
Project Details
The project involved re-purposing an existing office structure into residential flats—an example of permitted development that necessitated high standards of acoustic performance alongside practical installation considerations. Advance Screeding engaged us to evaluate whether our acoustic “ROLL” product could satisfy both the performance requirements and the operational constraints of the site.
Addressing Acoustic & Practical Requirements
Minimizing noise transfer between dwellings is critical in such conversions. Our solution needed to not only meet acoustic standards but also be manageable across multiple storeys, efficient to install, and cost-effective. Traditional acoustic underlays often require taping and can be bulky or heavy to move—factors that can delay schedules and complicate logistics, particularly where access is limited.

Benefits of a Tailored Acoustic Approach
Conclusion
The screed laying part of the project was completed successfully, achieving both acoustic performance and on-site delivery objectives. Advance Screeding was pleased with the ease of installation and overall practicality of our solution. Positive feedback suggests that this marks the start of a strong working relationship, with future collaborations anticipated.
