PORT OF HARWICH, ESSEX

OVERVIEW

BACKGROUND

As part of the new Brexit changes for the UK, two new border force facilities were commissioned to help support additional inspection requirements resulting from the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.

BRIEF

MIDDAS were selected to work with RG Carter based on the ability to deliver a fast-track works programme. The new port required ambient and temperature-controlled areas, with depressed slab loading bays, inspection rooms and ancillary facilities for staff, to enable new border control checks on plant and animal products.

SOLUTION

MIDDAS provided the robust M100 bi-panel and M65 mon-bloc partition systems with a 120μm food safe vinyl pre-coating and smooth, ledge-free surface. Walls were coupled with special-sized MCT ceiling tiles to provide an ideal solution for the large-scale controlled environment required.
