OVERVIEW
NDEC was a collaborative effort delivered by Thales, the University of South Wales the Welsh Government and is a large part of the Welsh government’s plans to regenerate the Ebbw Vale area which was once an industrious town thanks to its steel and coal mills. Now completed, the digital hub is set to be one of the world's most advanced cyber testing and development facilities.
A beautiful array perforated panels now clad the new research and development facility in Ebbw Vale. Perforated holes of three sizes were used to create the natural image which enabled the modern facility to blend into its historic location.
The aluminium panels were anodised in natural satin bronze which provide the building with an autumnal aesthetic, further complementing the natural landscape in which it sits. The unique façade was designed by Cardiff-based architects, Rio Architects Ltd.
