Doubling Decking in Norfolk

This beautiful two-tiered deck, installed by Beams & Braces, is the first use of the all new Trex Signature® Railing in Classic White - and it certainly makes for a striking effect.

The inspiration:

Darren of Beams and Braces was tasked with transforming a tired timber deck into something spectacular that would afford the homeowner more space and provide a safe and pleasant outdoor space for the family.

The detail:

Using Trex’s most popular decking colour, Island Mist – part of the Trex Transcend collection - to create the two-tiered deck and steps allowed Beams and Braces to create a highly-effective contrasting deck, with the brilliant white of the railings standing out against the subtle grey tones of the Trex boards.

Unusually, the deck design used Trex Island Mist as the picture frame border too, with the detail of the frame picked out by arranging the decking boards at different angles in different zones. 

A central vertical board highlighted the property’s central post which supports a partial canopy over the top section of the deck, while on the steps Trex boards were arranged at a 45-degree angle to add visual interest.

The property’s location on the Norfolk coast means that every part of the deck needs to be robust enough to stand up to the seaside weather, so the Beams and Braces team took care to ensure the subframe was well ventilated, and joists are taped and treated, with sealed cut ends, to ensure a professional finish.

The new deck not only doubled the size of the decking area, the low-maintenance nature of Trex decking means that it will look just as spectacular in the future as it does today. And the contrasting colours of the Classic White Trex Signature Railing and the Island Mist deck perfectly complement this seaside home.
