Acrovyn by Design from Construction Specialties, was chosen for the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Victoria. The overall objective of the main entrance redevelopment was to transform a dark, chaotic space with low ceilings and multiple reception points into a light and welcoming entry; facilitating the daily movements of patients, visitors, volunteers and staff efficiently by providing clear way-finding.

Construction Specialties recently supplied the A6370 Acoustic Louvre to the Bank of China Sydney branch, to combat noise pollution for the adjacent Oaks hotel whilst providing essential airflow to the plant machinery behind it.

This innovative, multi-level residential building in central Adelaide is fitted with water and energy efficient fixtures and fittings by GWA Bathrooms & Kitchens, in partnership with DFC/Housing. Located at 102 Waymouth Street, the building consists of 146 apartments for Housing SA and 30 youth service apartments.

GWA Bathrooms & Kitchens was appointed to provide a full schedule of fixtures and fittings for this new residential development located in the landmark Rhodes Waterside precinct. Proving to be leaders in water efficiency technologies, GWA Bathrooms & Kitchens supplied a range of dual flush toilets, water efficient taps and showerheads, as well as bathtubs and basins.

Renowned Melbourne architecture firm Denton Corker Marshall was responsible for designing the bridge’s striking appearance. ‘The design respects the site’s cultural heritage and environmental values, providing the physical and mental space to pause and reflect,’ says Neil Bourne, Director at Denton Corker Marshall. The elegantly twisting bridge connects both sides of Hobart’s broad entrance highway in a distinctive entry portal. This much-anticipated civic project’s major design feature is 180 metres of Capral aluminium sheeting, skirting the bridge.

To this end, they have 4 different locations around Queensland all operating a 24-hour referral and emergency animal hospital. Sydney Airport is the busiest airport in Australia and one of the oldest continually running airports in the world, with an average of 44 million passengers visiting the airport each year, from domestic to international travellers.With the large amount of people coming to Sydney Airport on a daily basis, there is always potential for dirt and moisture from the soles of shoes to enter the facility, which can cause the floor to be dirty and a risk of people injuring themselves. To eliminate the risk of hazards to visitors, the CS Pedigrid entrance mat with Graphite inserts was specified to combat the dirt and debris.Not only is the Pedigrid aesthetically pleasing but it also offers high performance in terms of rolling load capability and dirt and moisture trapping, making it ideal for areas with high foot and wheel traffic. The Pedigrid is a 44mm deep, recess mounted system of removable grill sections that allows dirt, water, and other waste to fall between the heel proof treads into the matwell below, this can significantly reduce the cleaning and maintenance frequencies.Overall, the Pedigrid for Sydney Airport is proven to combat dirt and debris entering the building, whilst maintaining entrance area aesthetics and overall passenger safety.

Faced with an increasing number of students and staff cycling to campus everyday, FDC Construction was tasked with finding a solution to increase bike parking capacity within the limited parking areas available at Macquarie University latest building project. Wellington Airport previously used warm hand dryers and paper towels. Their motivations for changing hand drying method were to find a more environmentally sustainable form of hand drying, also wanting to avoid the slip hazard that can result from water on the floor. When Hunt Design, the architects behind Daydream Island Resort's recent renovation got in touch, we jumped at the chance to take ownership of their greenery installation.

With completion of the restoration, the building is a leader in terms of energy efficiency and environmental profile and has received the prestigious LEED Platinum certification. Guardian Glass high performance glass products for the façade contributed directly to achieving this LEED certification.

The Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne, Australia, is an amazing piece of engineering and architecture. With its stunning gridshell glass roof, the extended building is now the largest enclosed shopping centre in the Southern Hemisphere.

With a glass façade symbolising the transparency of justice and a glossy metal exoskeleton, the new Maison de l’Ordre des Avocats (House of the Paris Bar Association) is a stunning addition to the French capital’s new Batignolles judicial city. For the building owner, safety is a top priority. Therefore, the exoskeleton needed a proven passive fire protection coating that would enable the steel to maintain its load-bearing capacity for up to 60 minutes during a fire, giving those inside valuable extra time to evacuate.The challenge Specialist paint application and surface treatment company ROTH & Cie was contracted to apply the passive fire protection coating system. ROTH & Cie has worked with Hempel for many years and was keen to work with us on this project. However, due to the project schedule, the tubular exoskeleton framework was delivered to the construction site with a competitor’s epoxy primer already applied. ROTH & Cie therefore wanted a Hempel passive fire protection system that would work with the existing primer. Also, as building aesthetics are important in the overall design, the exoskeleton needed a high-quality matt satin finish. The solution Our solution was to specify a system of Hempafire Pro 315 and Hempathane 55750. A single component intumescent coating, Hempafire Pro 315 complies with the EN 13501-2 standard for the fire classification of construction products. It is optimised to provide 60 minutes of passive fire protection, as well as partial protection up to 90 minutes. In addition, thanks to its exceptionally low loadings, Hempafire Pro 315 requires significantly lower dry film thicknesses than competitor products. As a result, ROTH & Cie could apply the coating in a thinner coat, significantly reducing paint consumption, application time and project costs. The full system was completed with Hempathane 55750, a polyurethane topcoat with quick crosslinking properties that provides the matt satin appearance required by the specifications. Our dedicated passive fire protection R&D Centre in Barcelona, Spain verified that Hempafire Pro 315 could be applied on top of the existing primer. The entire system was spray applied using an electric airless pump, which is ideal for construction sites as it does not require an air compressor. The Victoria Tower is a skyscraper hotel located in the Kista district of Stockholm, Sweden. At 118-metres high, it is one of the tallest in Scandinavia. Designed by Wingardh Arkitektkontor AB, the building is wrapped entirely in a cloak of glass, standing like a lighthouse along the road between Stockholm and the city’s airport.

Architects from APP Arch-Studio created a building that serves as a multi-functional cultural centre, hosting important musical events, painting and photography exhibitions, as well as theatrical performances and film screenings. Combining all these functions was made possible due to a clear division of the building into two spatial modules: the glazed part acts as a philharmonic hall, while the second part is visual and exhibit-like, comprising of photography studios and a small cinema room.

At the new 6,000-seater Jordal Amfi ice hockey stadium in Oslo, Norway, player and spectator safety is a top priority. The stadium owner wanted a coating system which included passive fire protection, so, when Danish-based Give Steel was contracted to produce the steel structures, they had to not only meet the customer specification for fire protection but also consider the logistics of the project.The steel pieces were produced in Denmark, and Give Steel needed a coating system that was robust enough to protect the steel during transportation and erection onsite.

To maintain the property’sfirm environmental focus, the project team specified Holcim’sflagship product – ECOPact Zero concrete.
