What is NBS BIM Library?

The location of the NBS National BIM Library has now changed. The new BIM Library within NBS Source is now the home for nationalbimlibrary.com, and is the only collection of high-quality BIM objects certified to meet the NBS BIM Object Standard. When browsing product tiles, keep an eye out for the BOS icon. This symbol indicates that the product meets the NBS BIM Object Standard (BOS)

Download our extensive collection of generic and manufacturer BIM objects, ranging from building fabric systems to mechanical and electrical objects. All are free to download and use in your projects.

NBS generic objects can be used from early on in your projects. You can also search and browse to find objects from the leading manufacturers.

NBS Plug-in for Autodesk® Revit®

Access the NBS BIM Library from within Autodesk® Revit®, using the NBS Plug-in for Autodesk® Revit®.

You can drag and drop the latest objects from NBS Source directly into your model. When you then click on these objects, the manufacturer guidance and associated literature are automatically shown from with Revit.

For NBS Chorus specification integration, we have plug-ins that work within Graphisoft Archicad, Bentley OpenBuilding Designer and Nemetschek Vectorworks, in addition to the NBS Plug-in for Autodesk® Revit®.

The NBS BIM Object Standard

The NBS BIM Object Standard is a globally recognized mark of quality and consistency. Select and use BIM objects with confidence, knowing that you are working with objects that:

  • are in the right format;
  • contain all the information that you need; and
  • are compatible with all platforms that you work across.

Using this standard ensures consistency – not only for you and the people you work alongside, but across the entire construction industry.

To supplement the standard, the Revit® family and project template files, and the Revit® shared parameter file (used by the NBS authoring team) are also available to download.
