Supercar, Super FinishThe new Porsche dealership in central Hamburg provides customers with the high-level comfort, convenience and safety associated with the brand. A striking new complex is being erected in Hamburg city centre, which includes the Porsche Center Hamburg Alstergate, due to open this spring. Hamburg is a leading Porsche stronghold, reputed to have the highest density of Porsche owners in the world, with a 0.8% quota of the city’s car population and nearly 1,000 vehicles a year sold regionally since 2014. Covering almost 8,000m2 of land, the Alstergate plot has over 200 parking spaces, including an underground car park with valet parking service. Attending to the growing Porsche model range, the building will have four new charging points for electric and hybrid vehicles and will be one of the few German competence centres for the 918 Spyder supercar and Carrera GT. Along with the new building, Porsche’s workforce in the region is set to grow to 115 employees.Such a prominent Porsche dealership in northern Germany’s foremost metropolis demands extraordinary standards from the construction and décor contractors entrusted with the project. Applicators Strahl, Reinigungs & Anstrichtechnik of Kiel, with whom Hempel already has long-standing commercial relations, were required to produce the extra smooth surface finishes sought by thedesigners. Furthermore, public safety is an inherent factor that has to be considered in all aspects of construction, so applicators chose to apply Hempacore One as the intermediate coat on ready-primed steelworks, prior to finishing with a topcoat of our Hempathane 87481 enamel.Both Hempacore One 43600 and its fast-drying 43601 version provide up to 120 minutes retardation in the event of fire, a factor of great importance in buildings designed for public access. Significantly on this occasion, Hempacore One does not just offer excellent passive fire protection but also certain additional features of great value to designers and applicators alike. The fact that its full fire retardant properties can be achieved with much lowerlayer thicknesses makes for speedier work and also more natural aesthetics on visible steelwork. Rondo assisted contractor, Interline, under Builder FKG Group. A large part of the support meant assisting with technical designs that were sympathetic to the cyclonic region that is Cairns.

Rondo has provided onsite design assistance for the $66m project, supporting the design and construct environment. The project required the application of seismic solutions and Rondo has worked closely with contractor, Laser Linings to deliver the desired result.

Working with the site contractor, Expoconti, Rondo supplied products for the project, provided design work, and conducted weekly site inspections. Rondo’s technical assistance allowed for the designs to be simplified, which in turn provided a more cost effective approach.

Using Stud & Track and KEY-LOCK, Rondo was responsible for providing design support to Contractor, Amicus Constructions as well as onsite advice. While Rondo provided internal and external product, it was the external use of Stud & Track that stole the show.

Rondo are working alongside Abigroup, the Managing Contractors. Facing construction challenges due to the highly constrained site located next to an operating hospital, school and private residence, a number of innovative solutions were formed using Rondo’s Technical Services Team.

The Rondo team worked with the architect and builder to overcome the specific fire curtain wall design requirement for the lobby walls, ceiling and bulkhead. Rondo benefited the project through multiple design options and regular site inspections which supported both the contractor and the builder.

Project ceiling contractor, Built Environs, has an almost two decade relationship with Rondo and this partnership, along with project architects Hassell & Cox, allowed all parties to work together efficiently in order to find solutions for any design obstacles that occurred during construction.

Rondo became involved with the project in mid-June when approached about using our Studs to make up the main walls that separate the building into individual shop outlets. As there was no time for the Contractor to source structural steel (which would take up to five weeks).

The KEYLOCK Concealed Suspended Ceiling System, Steel Stud and Track Wall Framing System, and XPRESS Drywall Grid Ceiling System have been integrated throughout the project. Rondo’s long-term relationship with Ceiling & Wall Contractors enables the project to run smoothly and the onsite coordination is exemplary.

Teaming up with contractor Metrex Wall and Ceiling Specialists, Rondo was given the challenge of providing specification details for external wall framing, low height double leaf balustrade framing and external bulkhead stud wall framing, as well as providing a fully engineered design solution for the external façade.

John Holland recently built the largest private Hospital in South Australia, adding to its already suburb health care facilities. Rondo worked alongside Contractor Brighton Australia and Architect STH Architects, to deliver this state-of-the-art facility. Rondo supported the $400m build with a range of products and systems.

Designed by leading architects Hassell and Populous, the project is predicted to generate $200 million annual economic benefit for the NSW economy. Partnering with four of its major contractor customers Rondo provided design solutions based on criteria supplied by the architects and project builder Lend Lease for all four buildings.

Craigieburn Central ­­­­is a highly anticipated development providing residents of the area one of Australia’s freshest retail experiences. Through weekly site inspections and design assistance, Rondo will support the project and in particular builder Lend Lease and contractor Expoconti to achieve their ultimate goal of developing a unique and accessible shopping district for Craigieburn residents.

The project recently won Best Multi-Unit Development at the Master Builders-Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards. This is a great achievement, especially considering that when Rondo were approached by contractor, Metrex, to assist with Latitude’s wall and ceiling design, it was only 70% design ready leaving Rondo the task to finish the remaining 30% requirements.

It was even necessary to design bulkhead framing with a staggered stud configuration to meet acoustic requirements. Similarly, many of these designs also had to incorporate Square Hollow Section (SHS) posts to meet structural requirements. Rondo Technical Representative Max Dessmann worked closely with the contractor Interior Works and Rondo’s Technical Services Team to develop the required design solutions.

The $200 million Lend Lease Lakeside Joondalup Shopping Centre development opened in November 2014, making it the largest shopping destination in Western Australia. Contractors C & L Ceilings in conjunction with Rondo’s Technical Services Team designed pre-fabricated sections that could be built off-site and then transported to site complete, reducing installation costs and time delays.

Rondo worked closely with contractor Future Carpentry and Ceilings providing 92mm Stud & Track Systems, Key-Lock Ceiling Systems and heavy gauge Rondo products externally, throughout the project. A special feature in the design involved an intricate ‘wave’ ceiling feature requiring both convex and concave curved Rondo TCR sections to achieve the desired effect.

Built by Mossop Construction & Interiors, the $50m hall is located on campus at Hindley Street in Adelaide’s CBD. The Great Hall, dubbed as a ‘one-stop shop’, will not only benefit University students and staff, but also the local community as it features a sports complex and swimming pool. Rondo were approached to provide designs for full seismic requirements and worked with Ceiling & Wall Contractors Adelaide.

Rondo partnered with contractors ‘Sydney Projects’ once again, along with architects ‘The Buchan Group – Sydney’ to develop and execute the proposal for this project which involved the re-development of the retail arcade through the ground floor level, along with the eastern portion of the casino to contain additional commercial/tourist facilities, external works to the existing tower building and landscaping and public domain works

Due to tight plenum space and extremely congested plenum areas, Rondo’s new Xpress Drywall Grid System was the ideal ceiling system to use. This maximised the ceiling heights in all guest rooms while offering compliant plenum vertical clearances. Contractors implemented Rondo’s intricate feature ceilings and bulkheads throughout the entire building, such areas included the lobby, restaurants and conference areas.

Contractors Precision Interior Walls and Ceilings (PIWC) primary responsibility was the installation of the specialist linings on curved feature ceilings. PIWC Construction Manager, Ashley O’Connor mentions working closely with Rondo, and using CAD drawings to create a ceiling system before the panels were even made. “We designed and ensured the ceiling systems project’s specific design criteria were met”, said Ashley.

Working closely with SA Master Plaster as the internal drywall contractor Rondo has supplied 64 & 92mm x 0.70BMT and 92mm x 1.15BMT wall studs for the internal wall framing with over 1,000 studs being required per floor. Also the project is utilising Rondo KEY-LOCK concealed plasterboard framing for ceilings and over 2,000m2 of the external Rondo MAXIframe wall system.

Rondo and Allcoast worked together to achieve the curved corners in the feature ceiling. Although a great success, it was initially a tricky scenario to tackle due to the difficult shape that a tiered, KEY-LOCK Ceiling offers, including tight bends and corners. To form the curve in the ceiling, the contractor had to utilise plywood and cut to the same shape of the corner. Not only did this provide the desired effect, it added additional strength to the Rondo framework.

Rondo together with the builder, architect and primary contractor Cubic assisted in creating the contemporary high-rise educational facility. Rondo were engaged to provide external and internal wall and ceiling designs. Rondo’s technical team successfully worked with the teams onsite to overcome a range of complex wall types and design issues. The project required both Seismic design for the ceilings and special wind designs for the external framing.

This hurdle was overcome with the assistance of Rondo’s Technical Team who created unique designs of the external façade framing which pleased Contractor Conrad Linings and Builder, Broad Construction Services. Furthermore, Rondo worked in consultation with Hyder Engineers for a solution of the 150mm MAXIframe External Walls and Framing that required galvanised sheet metal to be installed on top of the framework to prevent any potential water ingress, with Rondo supervising the correct installation.
