Using the E3DT-GT fully dynamic double tier system, Cora was able to increase the number of secure AS2890.3 compliant bike parking spaces by 120%.

Using Cora Bike Rack’s fully dynamic E3DT-GT double-tier system, FDC was able to increase the number of secure AS2890.3-compliant bike parking spaces by 120%.

The Victoria Tower is a skyscraper hotel located in the Kista district of Stockholm, Sweden. At 118-metres high, it is one of the tallest in Scandinavia. Designed by Wingardh Arkitektkontor AB, the building is wrapped entirely in a cloak of glass, standing like a lighthouse along the road between Stockholm and the city’s airport.

Buildup Interior chose to use Rondo over competitive brands due to a long standing relationship with, and understanding of its service offering.

Rondo stands proud being the site-wide supplier for drywalls throughout the City of Dreams. The Rondo Malaysia team has worked very hard to service this project by arranging and loading 35 containers a month, replying to dozens of technical inquiries a week and running the factory 24 hours a day to ensure that they have the coils to keep the machines running.

Melbourne’s CBD features a $230 million Victoria Police ‘super’ complex. Designed by Woods Bagot Architects, the 12 level, 27,000m2 project provided Rondo Victoria’s Charlie Khoury with the opportunity to work with their project team in the early design process to come up with solutions to meet their architectural requirements. Together with Rondo’s technical services engineers many solutions were found such as how to satisfy a requirement for the many free-standing walls to be constructed without using structural steel.

Mass timber is transforming from an innovative new method of construction to a must-have in mid-rise building design, and this RMIT NAS (New Academic Street) project paved the way for Australia to become a leader in mass timber construction. One building in particular, the ‘Garden Building’, designed by NMBW Architects and TCL was a stand out for innovation and creativity. The spectacular design used a 6m mass timber grid and due to the visibility of the structure, glulam was the preferred option to CLT. Victorian ash was chosen as it is an attractive timber, ideal for ‘seen structure’.

With its glass walls, transparent façade and LED lighting, the Victor J. Koningsberger building, in the suburb of Uithof in Utrecht, cannot help but capture the eyes of all passers-by. The Viktor J. Koningsbergergebouw is dedicated to the faculties of Geosciences, Science and Medicine was designed by the renowned Rotterdam-based Ector Hoogstad Architects. This latest building addition to the University of Utrecht opted for a revolving door at their main entrance. The 3-winged Tourniket revolving door was custom-made and has been constructed almost entirely of glass. Director and project architect Joost Ector said, "The entrance had to be functional and recognisable, but also belong to the story of the building." The three central themes in the design of this iconic building are lightness, openness and transparency. All of these properties can be clearly seen in the building’s façade and play an important role at the main entrance. This bespoke revolving door towers at an impressive nine meters height. After nearly 100 years of serving the local community, the Petersham RSL club moved to a new home this year, in a redevelopment centred on style and comfort. Part of the design brief for the architects and developers was that the indoor spaces were comfortable for guests, particularly in reception, which can often feel the effects of wind and debris entering through open doors. The developers chose a fully automatic Tourniket revolving door from Boon Edam Australia to make a grand first impression to the classy new club, which was recently opened by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. It is the same type of cost-effective entrance used by leading hospitality venues globally to protect patrons and workers against wind, weather, and pollution, while also controlling traffic flow and opening up new sheltered areas for productive amenities. Petersham RSL CEO, Danny Fitzgerald, said “The Boon Edam revolving door creates an impressive entrance to our modern club, and was the perfect fit for our redevelopment. With this door, Boon Edam met two key specification requirements – enhancing climate control inside the club, and enhancing personal comfort in the reception area.” A welcoming entrance The 3-wing Tourniket revolving door pictured has a height of 2,650mm and diameter of 2,800mm to allow ample room for entry and egress. It has four LED warm white downlights for a pleasant and welcoming experience. A powder coated black grey finish on the exterior of the door allows it to effortlessly blend in with the building’s overall aesthetic and design. Boon Edam Australia Managing Director Michael Fisher says that a major benefit of revolving doors is that they allow visitors and staff alike to enter into a new world inside – one that is calm, quiet, and protected against allergens and climactic extremes. “In addition to customising the door to the club’s aesthetic preferences, we worked closely with Petersham RSL to deliver the doors within a complex installation involving temporary doors while other elements of the façade and reception were completed, prior to the arrival and installation of the revolving door,” he said. Boon Edam Australia is a part of the globally leading revolving door manufacturer, Royal Boon Edam, and the door selected by the Petersham RSL is a type already used by architects, builders and specifiers for Fortune 500 companies globally and for major Australian hotels, clubs, banks, offices, legislatures, and buildings. “The teams worked well together, and the result was an outstanding front façade and entrance, which will have a long-term impact on climate control and comfort,” said Fisher. Always Open, Always Closed A key benefit of revolving door systems in addition to access control is energy conservation, with their “always open, always closed” functionality providing lower HVAC losses while increasing the temperature stability and comfort of people inside. With a revolving door, only one quadrant of air is moving around each time, providing a highly effective method of controlling the indoor climate,” said Fisher. Further economy and versatility are provided where required by night locking entrance options including electromechanical locks that can be unlocked with a key or by means of an optional key impulse switch.  “These climate control features are not always considered at the design stage, so Petersham RSL has shown great foresight by specifying these outcomes early,” added Fisher.

About the ProjectThe ANZAC Memorial was designed as a sculptural monument, a unique collaboration between Architect Charles Bruce Dellit and sculptor George Rayner Hoff; it is arguably one of the finest examples of the union of architecture and art in Australia.The building is a striking architectural form, symmetrical on both axes. It uses elements reminiscent of traditional Gothic architecture (buttresses, cathedral windows, high ceilings) in the Art Deco style. The Memorial is adorned externally with twenty sculptures representing the units of the Australian Imperial Force (AIF). These are the sentinels of the building, keeping watch while representing the fallen to whom the building is dedicated.Bruce Dellit’s vision for the Memorial included a still pool bounded by poplars to the north of the building (included for their significant symbolic association with the battles in France and Belgium), and a cascading fountain to the south.The Hall of Service, at the centre of the Centenary Extension, is a civic space that architecturally and artistically mirrors the Hall of Silence. The Hall was named in acknowledgment of the original Memorial halls and to recognise more than a century of service by Australian servicemen and servicewomen. At the threshold to the space are the words: “NSW Service with and for All Australians”.The ChallengeWhen restoring a National War Monument visited by hundreds of thousands of people, you need to provide the highest quality results and finishes expected of such a significant structure in our history. The challenge here, comes from creating a restoration solution on a building which was designed in the early 1930’s, which will be flexible enough to maintain the architects core design features but also created and executed within a tight time frame in time for ANZAC day. The solution needed to encompass modern technology with traditional design features to ensure the restoration lasts for the next 100 years as a memorial to our fallen heroes.Tremco SolutionTremco worked closely with Sure Seal and Built to provide a solution which was both timely and high quality. the installers long standing relationship with Tremco, a number of unique solutions, together with a 20 year warranty period proved a success.Over 15,000m2 of Tremco products were installed on this historic site. Tremco provided regular iAudit reports on the job site (iAudits is a quality control measure used to ensure the products are being applied consistently to maintain warranty conditions) During regular site visits, Tremco were able to provide a high level of customised Technical information and design advice to ensure the project ran smoothly and to Built’s expectations.

Supercar, Super FinishThe new Porsche dealership in central Hamburg provides customers with the high-level comfort, convenience and safety associated with the brand. A striking new complex is being erected in Hamburg city centre, which includes the Porsche Center Hamburg Alstergate, due to open this spring. Hamburg is a leading Porsche stronghold, reputed to have the highest density of Porsche owners in the world, with a 0.8% quota of the city’s car population and nearly 1,000 vehicles a year sold regionally since 2014. Covering almost 8,000m2 of land, the Alstergate plot has over 200 parking spaces, including an underground car park with valet parking service. Attending to the growing Porsche model range, the building will have four new charging points for electric and hybrid vehicles and will be one of the few German competence centres for the 918 Spyder supercar and Carrera GT. Along with the new building, Porsche’s workforce in the region is set to grow to 115 employees.Such a prominent Porsche dealership in northern Germany’s foremost metropolis demands extraordinary standards from the construction and décor contractors entrusted with the project. Applicators Strahl, Reinigungs & Anstrichtechnik of Kiel, with whom Hempel already has long-standing commercial relations, were required to produce the extra smooth surface finishes sought by thedesigners. Furthermore, public safety is an inherent factor that has to be considered in all aspects of construction, so applicators chose to apply Hempacore One as the intermediate coat on ready-primed steelworks, prior to finishing with a topcoat of our Hempathane 87481 enamel.Both Hempacore One 43600 and its fast-drying 43601 version provide up to 120 minutes retardation in the event of fire, a factor of great importance in buildings designed for public access. Significantly on this occasion, Hempacore One does not just offer excellent passive fire protection but also certain additional features of great value to designers and applicators alike. The fact that its full fire retardant properties can be achieved with much lowerlayer thicknesses makes for speedier work and also more natural aesthetics on visible steelwork.
