The Sir Edward Weary Dunlop Retirement Village has been completed with the help of architect, builder and contractor Ryman Healthcare. The 134-unit age care facility will house serviced care units and independent living units for the elderly with resort-style facilities. Rondo assisted in the development of this project, supplying a number of products including Stud and Track (64mm and 92mm x 0.55BMT), KEY-LOCK Suspended Ceiling Systems and MAXIjamb Systems for the large window and door openings leading onto balconies.

Nestled in the craggy splendours of New South Wales’ Snowy Mountains region, the stunning home innovatively employs every advantage of Schuco’s environmentally sustainable window and door suites. Henry and Kate Lance of Lance Workshop Architecture expands on Schuco’s key role in the project’s myriad standout features. While there were logistical challenges with installing the windows, they were all overcome. To make sure everything went according to plan when installing those hefty Schuco units, spider cranes were used on this challenging site to safely lift and install some of the larger window units securely into place.

Acrovyn by Design, was the ideal product to promote a fun and healing environment in the children's unit of the Royal Hobart Hospital. Displaying images that portray an Antarctic theme throughout 47 bedheads of the hospital for the use of aesthetics and protecting the walls of the hospital.

Catering for Capital Hill’s requirements of security, high traffic and minimal maintenance, RBA has supplied a number of Bobrick Accessories specific to this project, suitable for both the highest of political representatives and the average citizen.RBA’s Bobrick Contura™ Surface Mounted Soap Dispenser, or the B4112, is made of strong Stainless Steel and holds a capacity of 1.2L. The unit is Antibacterial Soap resistant, allowing for its users to maintain optimal hygiene without wear and tear. Needing nominal maintenance, the B4112 is ideal for high traffic locations. Exhibiting a Satin Finish, the unit is a subtle addition to the facilities whilst simultaneously complimenting the silver notes in the Washroom design.Also pictured below is RBA’s Bobrick Trimline™ Recessed 2-in-1 Combination Unit, containing both a Paper Towel Dispenser and Waste Receptacle B38034. Recessed in nature, the unit invades minimal space while holding a large capacity of 600 C-fold of 800 multifold paper towels and a waste capacity of 14.4L, sporting two Tumbler Locks for security. It too has a Satin Finish to its Stainless Steel exterior, matching the B4112, maintaining a consistent aesthetic as well as blending in with the amenities. 

St George Community Housing required a modern flooring solution that not only fit the unit style but also ticked all the boxes for building compliance. The project recently won Best Multi-Unit Development at the Master Builders-Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards. The Hospital provides services including acute inpatient and day services, outpatient services, women’s and children’s services, paediatrics and pathology. Canberra Hospital is also a hub for education and research, remaining as the main teaching hospital for the Australian National University Medical School and the University of Canberra’s Nursing School. Canberra Hospital additionally accommodates for Clinical Pastoral Care institutions based in Sydney. RBA was thrilled to participate on a project that could better the experiences of both a myriad of patients and students.Canberra Hospital reached out to RBA to provide for a number of brand new Bariatric Rooms and one “Super Bariatric Room” during a refurbishment of the hospital’s orthopaedics services. These amenities are essential to providing comfortable care for individuals struggling with the growing obesity crisis, the Super Bariatric Room catering to people weighing up to half a tonne. As a result, RBA had to supply high quality, heavy duty bariatric facilities, whilst keeping a homely character to make patients comfortable in the clinical environment. Read the news article from the Canberra Times RBA’s supplication of our Bariatric Toilet, or the RBA8851-137, pictured below was vital for the project. Made of Stainless Steel, the toilet can withstand loads of up to 910 kg with no measurable deflection and 2200 kg with no permanent damage, maintaining strong and secure for its intended usage. Furthermore, the 304-type, or “Food Grade” Stainless Steel is constructed with corrosion resistance and allows for optimal hygiene. The unit supplied to Canberra Hospital has an optional P or S Trap, coming in an Enviro-Glaze® White Finish, best suited for the setting. However, this unit is also offered Enviro-Glaze® White external finish and a Stainless Steel internal finish, or a Stainless Steel total finish. Moreover, the unit is water-saving, holding a 3 Star (6.0L FF/3.0L HF/3.6L AF) WELS rating. The unit can additionally be accompanied by RBA’s Big John Bariatric Toilet Seat, or the RBA8186-853.

Acrovyn by Design® from Construction Specialties, was specifically chosen for the new Veterinary Specialist Services (VSS) Hospital in Jindalee, Brisbane, Queensland. The overall objective of the project was to create a bright and welcoming space, as well as an extremely hygienic care environment for the veterinary doctors and staff, the patients (pets) and their owners.The combination of both functionality and design flexibility available with Acrovyn by Design® has allowed the creative “cute pet theme” to be installed behind the wash basins as splash-backs. The images used include a collection of cute animals such as kittens and puppies, which could very easily be executed with the design flexibility and functionality of Acrovyn by Design® wall panel sheets.Veterinary hospitals and lobbies are high traffic environments with a significant amount of equipment, including trolleys and stretchers that can scrape or bump against walls. In addition, they have strict cleaning requirements for high hygiene standards that often requires the use of harsh chemicals, such as bleach, to disinfect hard surfaces.The client’s mission statement is to “provide the best possible care”. To this end, they have 4 different locations around Queensland all operating a 24-hour referral and emergency animal hospital. All facilities have state-of-the-art equipment with experienced and helpful staff. This project is a great example where the client wanted to realise the instant savings of Con-form Group’s engineer certified, rafter mounted system, over costly traditional mounting systems.With a mixture of our EasyMech MR (purlin-mounted), and Span+ (rafter-mounted), HVAC platforms - the client was able to successfully mount all mechanical units across the roof of this mixed-use development in Tasmania.Spanning over 9 metres, this retrofitted Span+ (rafter-mounted), installation answered the clients brief in more ways than one.Rated to 2.5kPa and attached to Con-form Groups proprietary steel stub columns – this platform and it’s screens were retrofitted to the roof of this shopping centre within 2 days.Paired with our Louvre airflow and Classic Screen Walls.

Springvale Rise Primary School engaged adventure+ to redevelop two of the school’s playgrounds. Utilising funds provided from a government election promise enabled the school to provide the best for their students. The scope included designing and installing two spectrum+ combination units and one large pinnacle+ rope climbing structure in the areas. As part of the package, adventure+ supplied and installed shade sails and undersurfacing in both play areas. Careful selection of colours ensured the playgrounds both matched with the surrounding environment and newly constructed buildings and gave an inviting and engaging atmosphere for the students. The pinnacle+ rope structure has been so successful for the school that they have to roster turns for the children! Providing the entire playground package ensured the playground redevelopment experience was as smooth as possible for the school.

With a continuously growing workforce, cities across the country are transforming corporate workspaces into multi-level high-quality spaces. The demand for better-graded office space in the city of Glasgow is high. The magnificent development of 191 West George Street has created a vibrant buzz around the cultural city. Known as being within one of the most prominent positions within the City, 191 West George Street stands on the corner of West George Street and Wellington Street. The position encourages an easy commute for the workforce with transport links being a stone’s throw away from the development. Renovated with space and clarity in mind, the atrium stands out with its high-quality materials. The atrium was designed with a sleek set of Lifeline Speedlane Swings.

The 52mm drainage cell has been used as normally in two guises. Firstly as a TurfcellTM grass reinforcement such as at Natural Designer Homes , a display home in Casuarina NSW. The photograph of the driveway is from about 1year ago, some 4 years from installation. As there are several cars in the family as well as work trucks the installation looks quite good.Secondly as a Gravel cellTM gravel retainer, such as that used at Leaf and Limb Nursery in Kin Kin Qld., where they use the 52mm cell in the walkways as this makes it easier for them to run the trolley through the gravel.However there is a third use for the 52mm drainage cell. That is as walk ways in mining camps. Traymark Industrial Caravans make the vans for accommodation for the workers and Atlantis® 52mm cells are supplied with each van to be used as a walk way to keep workers out of the mud and dirt when at their accommodation..Secondly as a Gravel cellTM gravel retainer, such as that used at Leaf and Limb Nursery in Kin Kin Qld., where they use the 52mm cell in the walkways as this makes it easier for them to run the trolley through the gravel.Now for another use: a client already was successfully using our 52mm drainage cell as reinforcement for parking bays beside a river and in August 2011, it occurred to him that he could extend the parking area into a boat ramp. Our 52mm drainage cell is made from recycled polypropylene with U. V. protection, in sheets being 480mm x 260mm x 52mm.Two tracks, being 0.96m in width were connected to the 52mm drainage cell in the parking area and also were secured by metal hook pegs to the drainage cell of the parking area. The tracks lead to a full width ramp (2.88m in width) into the water.To prevent the ramp from sinking fully into the silt, the ramp and adjacent section of the two tracks are formed by two layers of 52mm drainage cell connected to each other by cable ties. Metal hook pegs were also used to assist in holding the ramp in position.We contacted our client in August 2017 and he is very happy with the boat ramp which is still in use despite several floods, and constant exposure to the elements.Thus the high load bearing of approximately 4000t/sq. M and the long useful life of the 52mm drainage cell has permitted the 52mm drainage cell to be used and still being used in many ways.

The Uni of Queensland Emmanual College features the following RBA products:The 2011 Brisbane floods initiated the refurbishment of parts of University of Queensland’s Emmanuel College and created an opportunity to upgrade student amenities. The Facilities Managers decided to control water usage by using RBA’s Time-Trol shower controller. At the same time, they chose to replace out-dated twin element ‘boiler’ water heaters with instantaneous gas. The results were astonishing. “The university estimates it is now saving $60-$70K per year in water and energy savings.”The Time-Trol Shower unit allows maintenance staff to nominate run-time and lock-out parameters. These can be selected from, and changed to, any one of 12 options. No special coding required, just the flick of a dial by staff. It was ultimately decided to offer students a 5 minutes shower with a 30 second lockout. According to university staff ‘…the students have adapted to the usage restrictions seamlessly. There hasn’t been a complaint uttered…’

The Hadspen Bull Run Reserve playground is an excellent example of a community playground that suits everyone! Located within the Meander Valley Council in Tasmania, the park is a central hangout for the community in Hadspen. The vast range of equipment within the park is what makes this playground so special. There is something for all ages and interests, with a play unit, flying fox, multi-user rocker, wheelchair carousel, swings, single rocker, interactive panels, and a fitness station. While there is plenty for children, the fitness station also provides for the older demographic that may be minding the children on the playground, or doing their morning workout. Having the playground accessible was an important feature in the brief provided to adventure+. To reflect this, our design team included rubber paths for access through the playground, with access to low-level interactive panels and a wheelchair carousel. With our serious approach to play, we always aim to make our playground designs engaging and enjoyable. But, making the playground attractive is also essential. Selecting a modern colour scheme, as well as a play panel with an engraved bull image, makes the playground enticing, and ties the design to the name of the park.

The new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, home of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United, welcomed 75,000 fans to Super Bowl LIII in a beautifully designed and environmental friendly facility that is devoted to providing the ultimate fan experience. The HOK-designed $1.5 billion stadium opened in August 2017, an architectural icon in the city’s impressive downtown skyline.Amid its extensive post-game coverage of the Super Bowl, ESPN.com’s NFL page featured a story by ESPN Senior Writer David Fleming detailing an important and little discussed aspect of watching a game live…the quality of stadium restrooms.In his article, Fleming quoted Mercedes-Benz Stadium GM Scott Jenkins as saying,“You add a restaurant or a walkway feature to the stadium, some people will use it, but everyone is going to use the restroom. So the functionality, the quantity, the aesthetics of your bathrooms is critical. It seems unremarkable to most people, but, trust me, you invite 70,000 people to your house and you get the bathrooms wrong — you’ve got a huge problem”…”That Toilet seat, is now just as important as your Super Bowl seat.”

Ireland’s second largest legal firm, Arthur Cox, has moved to its new headquarters, Ten Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin. Located a stone’s throw from St. Stephen’s Green, the LEED Platinum fit-out building is a marker of sustainable design. Architects, Scott Talon Walker, had a specific design requirement in mind so chose SAS International for their longstanding relationship and expertise. To accommodate the number of recurring apertures, Scott Talon Walker collaborated with SAS to create bespoke service panels within the SAS330 hinged mega panel tartan grid. The panel design features five unperforated squares which create a single unit capable of housing fire detectors, movement sensors and other electrical devices. These unique panels satisfy the client’s M&E stipulations, ensuring the building’s sustainable performance well into the future. Additional SAS systems installed include: SAS500 acoustic lighting baffles and SAS150. Both of these systems assure complete design flexibility and service maintenance in equal measure. Nominated for Fit Out Project of the Year – Large Office, SAS International has once again exceeded the mark to deliver premium metal ceiling solutions for its client.

Add to this problem damaged aging torch membrane, combined with Governments regulations regarding solar absorption and reflectivity of the building posed a real challenge for the applicator when determining a solution for the job.A second challenge for this job is the location of the building was located in the built up CBD of Parramatta with neighbours in close proximity, which meant the solution needed to be neighbourhood friendly.SolutionGiven the complexity of solution required for such a job AlphaGuard BIO is the only product which ticks all the boxes. AlphaGuard BIO is an extremely high performing composite waterproofing system, designed with a focus on roofing restoration. Due to AlphaGuard BIO being a liquid, it makes it ideal for jobs where there are machinery on the roof which needs to be worked around.AlphaGuard BIO has the ability to be installed over various existing roofing membranes in order to minimise tenant disruption and extend the life of the roof for an additional 20 years.It cures to form a durable rubber membrane surface that provides a lasting and easy-to clean waterproof coating. AlphaGuard BIO may be used to apply a seamless, monolithic waterproof membrane to concrete, primed metal, or existing roofing membrane surfaces.AlphaGuard BIO’s low VOC will minimise offensive odours to current tenants and applicators. The white top coat provides high solar reflectance, reducing the building’s operation costs and complying with Section J1.3(b) of the 2019 NCC.

The £70 million project saw SAS International design and manufacture bespoke spun alum­inium profiled discs, acoustic metal wall panelling and System 600 rafts in the new terminal. The architects 3D Reid had to make the building light, airy and modern yet the façade and various materials used within the terminal had to withstand potential of a security breach. All products installed ‘land-side’ were required to meet the requirements of Aviation Security in Airport Development (ASIAD). The result answers aesthetic demands, yet provides the highest level of performance for the requirements of the building. For the design to be realised, square aluminium sheets were cut by the manufacturer into a circle and spun into a dome. Installation in such an environment means safety cables had to be attached to each disc, wall panel, tile and raft to ensure they do not fall and cause injury. Allowance for safety cables to be attached had to be taken into consideration during the design phase. Large vertical wall panels with an ultra-micro perforation were also specified to provide the necessary acoustic properties required for this vast open space. The very fine 0.7mm perforation, with 1% open area, helps to manage acoustics within the large open spaced terminal. The off-site modular manufacture of the architectural metalwork products meant installation was quicker, which causes less disruption to such a busy environment, and in addition there is no waste on site. Aesthetic versatility can be achieved using SAS International Architectural Metalwork throughout projects. It also allows for inte­gration of M&E services into the building design while meeting design demands and durability requirements. The range includes acoustic baffles, acoustic wall panels, air handling units, bespoke ceilings, and column casings.

Located to the west of the heart of Melbourne, the Burwood Campus holds the newly-unveiled LC Building, designed in an innovative way, holding multiple levels of formal and informal learning areas, health and wellbeing services and a premium staff working space for the Law School. The building aims for sustainability, sporting solar panels, native flora in its Wellness Garden and indoor greenery. The contemporary “green” design had to include RBA, as we share the same goal of sustainability. Furthermore, by providing to the ever-innovative Deakin University, we are improving the learning experience of the education sector.Pictured below, RBA’s ‘Compact’ Water Cooler, or the RBA2733-032, flows 30L of water per hour. RBA categorises the unit as ‘heavy duty’, meaning it maintains to be strong and long-lasting. Made of Stainless Steel with a Satin Finish, it has an Anti-microbial flexible bubbler with self-closing push button and non-squirt features (stainless steel bubbler options available upon request). Included is an integral perforated drain for hygiene & ease of cleaning. The Water Cooler exhibits a smooth radiused design that eliminates sharp corners thus minimising catch. All pipework is concealed within the Stainless Steel Shroud and contains the option of a Bottle Filler.Deakin University LC Building decided to pair the Water Cooler with a Push Button Bottle Filler, or the RBA2732-001. Users hold their bottle in the recess provided and press the button to activate the flow of water. Flow stops upon releasing the button. Spillage is directed onto the deck of the Water Cooler mounted underneath. Thus, students have a sustainable alternative for hydrating.
