The project was subject to wind loading up to 2.8kPa ultimate and 1.9kPa serviceability. Our technical designs specified wall and ceiling systems, as well as complementary accessories to be supplied to the project. The ABC project in Melbourne’s Southbank precinct represents a bold union of the national broadcaster’s multiple aims and responsibilities. With its bold style, internal and external openness and highly innovative use of technology, the ABC’s Victorian headquarters embodies socially responsible design. The central design theme of transparency is perfectly suited to the Capral curtain wall, window and door systems throughout. The building, which designer Cox Architecture characterise as fostering a ‘dynamic, integrated and visually transparent environment which promotes interaction across program teams’, also invites ‘greater public interest and participation’.

Designed by leading architects Hassell and Populous, the project is predicted to generate $200 million annual economic benefit for the NSW economy. Partnering with four of its major contractor customers Rondo provided design solutions based on criteria supplied by the architects and project builder Lend Lease for all four buildings.

Coined as the newest urban development in North Perth, this boutique 5-storey apartment, Rose on Angove designed by Architects Bollig Design is a little gem.Situated on the corner of Angove and Fitzgerald Streets in the prominent and renowned coffee and café strip of Angove Street, the $15 million development consists of 39 one and two-bedroom apartments.

Importantly, this was the first major hotel project where seismic requirements needed to be addressed, and therefore Rondo supplied designs for internal wall partitions, ceilings, seismic walls and seismic bulkheads.

The project recently won Best Multi-Unit Development at the Master Builders-Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards. This is a great achievement, especially considering that when Rondo were approached by contractor, Metrex, to assist with Latitude’s wall and ceiling design, it was only 70% design ready leaving Rondo the task to finish the remaining 30% requirements.

By assisting Brookfield Multiplex Constructions’ architects at the design stage, Rondo has ensured our products are readily accessible on site, resulting in less design enquiries during construction. Rondo will be supplying the project with Stud and Track in 64mm, 76mm and 92mm sizes, KEY-LOCK Concealed Suspended Ceiling System and PANTHER Access Panels.

Monash University’s Clayton campus was recently awarded three major architecture awards by the Australian Institute of Architects for the second year running.The precinct consists of four new residential buildings with associated retail and informal learning spaces, with each of the buildings having its own individual architectural style.The project includes designs from four different architects including Hayball, Jackson Clements Burrows Architects (JCB), Richard Middleton Architects and McBride Charles Ryan, with master planning from MGS Architects and partners.Central to the design are the powder coated aluminium elements featured across each of the buildings, ranging from sharp blacks and silvers on one building through to bright and exuberant colours on another, driving home the individuality of each designer.Among the award winning designs, the Logan Hall residency, designed by McBride Charles Ryan was recognised by the judges for its excellence in architectural skill and merit of design. Interpon Black Ink was used for the shading devices and window frames, with Interpon Eternal Silver Satin specified for the weather panels above the ground floor retail.“As we were conscious of long term maintenance as well as creating an ongoing pleasing presence, the products used on the project were chosen for their intrinsic beauty and longevity,” says Debbie Ryan of McBride Charles Ryan.“The pattern is intentionally complex. Custom colours from the Interpon Ultriva™ collection were used for aluminium elements including extrusions, sheets, flashings, cladding, trims and fins.The complexities of the ambitious project required careful consideration and planning between the architects and powder coating supplier. High performance doors for this architecturally designed house

As Western Australia’s flagship health facility, the Fiona Stanley Hospital is the largest building project ever undertaken for the Western Australian Government. The hospital is a complex of buildings that combine to form the hospital campus. This A$2 billion project was designed by the Fiona Stanley Design Collaboration - a joint venture between the local offices of three architectural practices: Silver Thomas Hanley, Hames Sharley and HASSELL.

Rondo worked alongside Cubic Interiors, and Builder, Brookfield Multiplex, who were chosen due to their ability to deliver highly innovative and cost effective design solutions. This was achieved through the use of Rondo’s KEY-LOCK Concealed Suspended Ceiling System and Steel Stud and Track. Rondo provided continual assistance by coordinating the product logistics and helping Cubic Interiors with the design criteria.

Fogarty Bros, who are the main commercial plasters in Bundaberg for over 15 years, were contracted to install the internal and external linings. Due to the region’s conditions, external wall designs for cyclonic conditions were needed, pre-construction meetings were needed to discuss benefits and limitations. The builder used extra structural steel where needed and custom suit windows to fit the Rondo design.

Working beside Doig Architecture, Rondo provided expert design and technical advice particularly with the high internal walls. Regular on-site inspections ensured products were installed to specification and delivered on time. Rondo Technical Sales Representative Tino Cucinotta said “The project benefited from our Technical Service team who were readily available to provide design advice when required”.

Rondo provided Red Oak Contracts Pty Ltd with the external wall, soffit and bulkhead designs which were submitted to BADGE and Hames Sharley Architects for approval. Rondo’s technical team highlight the quality of workmanship on this project, especially when comparing the designs to the finished installation. The stock was supplied on time and accurate with Rondo working with all parties throughout this project which is a credit to all involved.

Wall types can vary significantly on such a large project, and the Rondo team were required to design a framing system solution that would be suitable for the vast majority of the project. Due to large wall heights to the ballroom areas, Rondo MAXIJamb members were required and specific Rondo engineered design detail was provided for bathroom wall locations, where the Rondo framing was to support stone linings.

Contractors Precision Interior Walls and Ceilings (PIWC) primary responsibility was the installation of the specialist linings on curved feature ceilings. PIWC Construction Manager, Ashley O’Connor mentions working closely with Rondo, and using CAD drawings to create a ceiling system before the panels were even made. “We designed and ensured the ceiling systems project’s specific design criteria were met”, said Ashley.

Award-winning design for this major new tourism facility in Cairns, North Queensland

Leading the way for architectural and educational public school design in New Zealand, Hobsonville Point Schools are located on the former Hobsonville Air Base, around 25 kilometres from Auckland. GWA Bathrooms & Kitchens partnered with the New Zealand Ministry of Education and Learning Infrastructure Partners to ensure this innovative education precinct met its key design and sustainability objectives by supplying a range of market-leading, water-efficient bathroom fixtures and fittings.

To set the internal aesthetics apart from other similar projects being built in Brisbane, Wood Marsh Architects designed some jaw-dropping gold ribbon ceilings that hover above the modern curved walls, which elegantly wrap around the lobby floor. In saying this, achieving perfection is not a simple task and none of this could have been accomplished without Rondo’s technical designs and NAC’s expertise in making them come to life.

Recognized for its maritime importance by Napoleon Bonaparte, the Port of Antwerp is the second largest port in Europe and fifth largest in the world, and has had a significant impact on European history. Appropriately known as “the Diamond Capital of the World,” Antwerp sees $16 billion in polished diamonds pass through its exchanges each year, with the city boasting an overall turnover of $54 billion in the gemstone.By 2007, however, the Port of Antwerp had outgrown its office space. To maintain the port’s prominence in an ever expanding international arena, the city needed a sustainable, future-proof workplace, with a design that represented the city’s past, present and future.To compliment the iconic structure and allow future workforce expansion, the building needed iconic washroom facilities that guaranteed sophistication, privacy, and the flexibility to grow. To deliver on these lofty washroom design requirements, Zaha Hadid Architects turned to ASI Group Europe. Custom-made, extra-height black Alpaco partitions provide superior privacy in the stunning washrooms. Stainless steel hardware accents the washroom design, adding distinction worthy of the building’s reputation and a touch of modern aesthetics. The elegance of stainless steel washroom accessories add sophistication to an already distinct design.

Ireland’s second largest legal firm, Arthur Cox, has moved to its new headquarters, Ten Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin. Located a stone’s throw from St. Stephen’s Green, the LEED Platinum fit-out building is a marker of sustainable design. Architects, Scott Talon Walker, had a specific design requirement in mind so chose SAS International for their longstanding relationship and expertise. To accommodate the number of recurring apertures, Scott Talon Walker collaborated with SAS to create bespoke service panels within the SAS330 hinged mega panel tartan grid. The panel design features five unperforated squares which create a single unit capable of housing fire detectors, movement sensors and other electrical devices. These unique panels satisfy the client’s M&E stipulations, ensuring the building’s sustainable performance well into the future. Additional SAS systems installed include: SAS500 acoustic lighting baffles and SAS150. Both of these systems assure complete design flexibility and service maintenance in equal measure. Nominated for Fit Out Project of the Year – Large Office, SAS International has once again exceeded the mark to deliver premium metal ceiling solutions for its client.

Designed by Smart Design Studio, the building is an honest layering of old and new as expressed by the raw treatment of the exterior façade through to the smooth, modern interior. The rooftop addition connects the double-height banks of glass Breezway Louvres with an articulated aluminium roof folding down as a screen to the back of the building. The end result successfully incorporates flexible and functional office interiors and a two-bedroom rooftop apartment within a rigorously controlled contemporary architecture of old and new.

MP Group were charged with managing the installation and finishing of all internal and external walls and this is also where Rondo offered our support. With the external structural steel framing having been installed 150mm out of position, Rondo’s Technical Services Team came to the rescue and designed an external stud wall system using our MAXIframe External Wall Framing System to ‘fill the gap,’ including design of special header bracing details to support the wall.

The £70 million project saw SAS International design and manufacture bespoke spun alum­inium profiled discs, acoustic metal wall panelling and System 600 rafts in the new terminal. The architects 3D Reid had to make the building light, airy and modern yet the façade and various materials used within the terminal had to withstand potential of a security breach. All products installed ‘land-side’ were required to meet the requirements of Aviation Security in Airport Development (ASIAD). The result answers aesthetic demands, yet provides the highest level of performance for the requirements of the building. For the design to be realised, square aluminium sheets were cut by the manufacturer into a circle and spun into a dome. Installation in such an environment means safety cables had to be attached to each disc, wall panel, tile and raft to ensure they do not fall and cause injury. Allowance for safety cables to be attached had to be taken into consideration during the design phase. Large vertical wall panels with an ultra-micro perforation were also specified to provide the necessary acoustic properties required for this vast open space. The very fine 0.7mm perforation, with 1% open area, helps to manage acoustics within the large open spaced terminal. The off-site modular manufacture of the architectural metalwork products meant installation was quicker, which causes less disruption to such a busy environment, and in addition there is no waste on site. Aesthetic versatility can be achieved using SAS International Architectural Metalwork throughout projects. It also allows for inte­gration of M&E services into the building design while meeting design demands and durability requirements. The range includes acoustic baffles, acoustic wall panels, air handling units, bespoke ceilings, and column casings.

This design stemmed from the idea of the ‘Halo Effect’ – ‘a natural phenomenon whereby icebergs act as physical refuge for aquatic organisms while simultaneously releasing nutrients to their surroundings and generating a ‘halo’ of energetic life’. The Halo House is the epitome of an Australian modern family home. Breathe Architecture explained “the building reads like a geological feature in a landscape, continually evolving with the passing of time, weather and seasons”. The design represents a ‘breath of fresh air’, using light and natural materials to create a warm and nurturing home.

“Having considered both performance and materiality factors, The Winton was designed with a green conscience. Reclaimed bricks provided such an interesting personality to the build, so it was important that the soft character of a natural timber species delivered the contrasting features” - Orbis Construction. Due to Victorian ash’s natural blonde tones, IronAsh has the flexibility to grey off or to be stained to meet any design needs. IronAsh is the combination of GoodWood Victorian ash and unique water-based additives to give a H3 treated exterior timber.

Designed by Silver Thomas Hanley (STH) Architects, the structural additions provide four extra levels of useable space above the existing emergency department. As a construction-managed project, the design and construction teams were able to work in concert to ensure all specifications were correct and appropriate at every stage of the work. Having considered the project challenges, including site constraints, access and speed in which the project needed to be completed, CW175 was chosen for its flexibility, engineering and structural integrity.

The Forensic Pathology & Coroner's Court is located in Lidcombe NSW. Fairview's deemed-to-satisfy non-combustible Vitracore G2 panels were chosen to achieve the unique exterior as designed by Silver Thomas Hanley and Cox Architecture, The design features vertical fins with pyramid details in five complementary finishes - Fresh Green, Pure White, Cool Grey from Fairview standard range and custom colours. Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) Data Center was recently built using our premium aluminium cladding solution, MondoClad®. FDC Building engaged Archer Facades to install this unique cladding design on the BAC Data Center. Archer Facades’ aim was not only to meet the architectural design requirements, but also to exceed them. External Cladding on a building is a focal point and a showcase for many projects that Archer Facades installs. Therefore, MondoClad® was a fit for purpose product for both the installer and the builder.

Melbourne’s CBD features a $230 million Victoria Police ‘super’ complex. Designed by Woods Bagot Architects, the 12 level, 27,000m2 project provided Rondo Victoria’s Charlie Khoury with the opportunity to work with their project team in the early design process to come up with solutions to meet their architectural requirements. Together with Rondo’s technical services engineers many solutions were found such as how to satisfy a requirement for the many free-standing walls to be constructed without using structural steel.

The refurbishment of the Victoria Gardens shopping centre designed by Colab Design Studio uses Sculpform's Aluminium Click-on Batten system to create a stunning curved Oculus, along with feature walls and ceilings throughout the centre. Sculptform’s Click-on batten system provided a unique solution that could be customised to address the incredibly complex geometry of the existing architecture. Being able to use the same system for the mall cladding, mall ceiling installations and the oculus cladding ensured absolute consistency across the entire centre.
