GA ‘Channel’ Windposts (VEW2) - Structural Windposts

The VEW2 channel windposts are designed to provide lateral support to masonry panels subjected to wind loads, with the section fully contained within the wall cavity for a discreet and efficient installation.

Typically used in lighter load applications compared to angle section windposts, the VEW2 system is ideal where cavity width allows for installation but limits the ability to increase section size. The design is therefore governed by both structural loading requirements and available cavity space.

Windposts are generally engineered as simply supported beams with a maximum deflection limit of span/360 and a design stress of 193.75 N/mm², including allowance for transient wind loading. Where deflection performance is critical, a propped cantilever design can be adopted to significantly reduce movement, subject to baseplate design considerations.

The system incorporates compatible windpost ties, clipped to the channel edges, enabling effective restraint into both brick and block masonry courses.

Manufactured from stainless steel or carbon steel to suit environmental exposure and structural requirements.
