Fire Escape Hatches - Under Ground Metro, Portugal

Project:

Surespan manufactured and supplied a series of fire escape hatches at Portugal’s €950 million underground Metro in Porto.

The huge double-leaf hatches automatically open if the fire alarm system is activated to allow passengers safe exit to ground level.

In addition, they can be manually opened with the touch of a button.

This project was undertaken after Surespan successfully carried out similar work at Athens Metro.
