Newton109-LM

Newton Waterproofing Systems

Newton 109-LM is a radon-certified, flexible, single-component, cold-applied, seamless rubber waterproofing membrane with a number of uses for the external waterproofing of earth retaining structures such as basements and foundation walls It is also adept as a detailing membrane for the termination and jointing of other Newton waterproofing products, and with its very high adhesive properties is the perfect primer for adhesion of butyl products to concrete and mortar.

Newton 109-LM is puncture resistant with elasticity of 850% and a 95% recovery memory. The membrane becomes fully engaged into the substrate to prevent water tracking.

The membrane is available in two variants: Medium viscosity (hand-applied) for use in warmer temperatures and low viscosity (spray-applied) for cooler temperatures (supported by BDA Certificate BAB 13-026/01/A). Newton 109-LM is also a constituent product of the Newton HydroBond® System supported by BDA Agrément Certificate BAB 16-031/03/A.

The membrane can be used in isolation or in conjunction with other Newton waterproofing and damp proofing products to provide a coordinated and combined approach to the waterproofing of the whole structure that includes protection against water ingress to the deck, through construction joints, through and around service entries and to movement joints.

Surface preparation is required, as is protection after application - consult manufacturer for details.

Features and benefits:

  • Accepted by the NHBC as a suitable waterproofing system for Type A Waterproofing to Grades 1, 2 and 3 - BS 8102: 2009.
  • Single component.
  • Fully-bonded seamless membrane.
  • Very flexible (850% elasticity with 95% recovery memory) easily dealing with movement and settlement. No shrinkage.
  • Instantly rain-tight when sprayed with Newton 109-LM Catalyst - consult manufacturer for details.
  • Primer not required for most substrates.
  • Provides a complete vapour barrier.
  • Can be used as an adhesive for insulation to decks.
  • Solvent free, non-toxic and odourless.
  • Non-flammable and no volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
  • Multi-use product: waterproofing, detailing, priming and repair.
  • Excellent adhesion to all clean and prepared substrate.
  • Compressive load capabilities to allow seamless termination from below ground to damp-proof course (DPC).
  • Suitable substrates for waterproofing include concrete of at least 20 kN, concrete block walls with flush pointing and insulated formwork walls (ICF). For damp proofing and detailing the suitable substrates include concrete, mortar and screeds.
  • CE marked, and manufactured in accordance with EN 1504-2: 2004+A2: 2014.
  • Where the membrane is exposed to UV and weathering, the life expectancy is 10 years.

Applications:

  • Waterproofing and radon protection of retained structures, together with Newton 403 HydroBond®.
  • Standalone waterproofing and radon membrane for basement, foundation and earth-retained walls.
  • Used as a detailing membrane or where access is too tight to spray Newton 108 HydroBond-LM.
  • Loading-capable, liquid damp-proof membrane (DPM) connecting wall waterproofing membrane to internal skin damp-proof course (DPC).

Can be applied by brush, roller or airless spray machine, and can be applied in cool and damp conditions, without a primer.

Stopgap F78

Ball, F and Co Ltd

A solvent free, one component, ready to use system which dries rapidly to provide a waterproof surface membrane. It impedes the passage of residual construction moisture from affecting subsequent floorcovering installations, therefore allowing early installation of floorcoverings in fast track building programmes.

Must be applied in two coats and can be used to isolate residual construction moisture where relative humidity values are up to 95%. It is pigmented blue to allow the user to visually control coverage uniformity.

Apply the appropriate Stopgap smoothing underlayment within 12 hours to the fully cured membrane to provide an absorbent surface suitable for the application of adhesives.

Under certain conditions it may be possible to apply a suitable adhesive such as Styccobond F41 direct to the fully cured membrane.

Features:

  • Impedes the passage of construction moisture up to 95% relative humidity with a two coat application.
  • Colour pigmented to aid coverage uniformity.
  • In most circumstances no priming is required with underlayments.
  • No mixing required.
  • Can be resealed and stored for future use.

Aqua 77 Neo Flex

Dukkaboard

A flexible liquid tanking membrane for waterproofing substrates or joints between Dukkaboard Panels when used in conjunction with Aqua 77 Fleece+. Water-based and eco-friendly, Aqua 77 provides total water-resistance in areas such as bathrooms, showers and wet-rooms.

Newton 106 FlexProof-X1 (FP1)

Newton Waterproofing Systems

Newton 106 FlexProof is a highly advanced single component liquid waterproofing material for the waterproofing of joints, which forms an elastomeric polymer membrane that is rainproof in minutes and capable of handling severe building movements and deformations.

Provides a good bond to most building materials and with very high levels of flexibility, and is capable of resisting both negative side and positive side water-pressure at construction joints, even where movement is expected. The product has the ability to remain watertight against positive pressure, even when resisting 20% expansion and compression and 10% shear, and so is especially useful where waterproofing is required within movement joints and at the interfaces of differing materials.

Surface preparation is required, as is protection after application - consult manufacturer for details.

Features and benefits:

  • Single component and ready to use, and therefore no mixing is required.
  • No primer required - saving on primer and labour costs.
  • Single coat application.
  • 100% waterproof, but allows vapour diffusion.
  • Very flexible - Resistant to movement and fissures in substrates.
  • Resistant to both positive and negative side water pressure.
  • Weather-tight skin forms within a few minutes of application.
  • Excellent adhesion to suitable substrates.
  • Resistant to temperature variations maintaining its characteristics between -40 and +90°C.
  • Excellent resistance to the high alkalinity of concrete.
  • Where the product is exposed to UV and weathering, the life expectancy should be at least 10 years.

Applications:

  • Waterproofing of construction and movement joints.
  • Flexible sealing mastic.
  • Waterproofing of joints between substrates, subject to differential movement.
  • Can be used as detailing to the Newton HydroBond System.

Suitable substrates include:

  • Concrete of at least 20 kN.
  • Concrete block walls with flush pointing.
  • Screed.
  • Metal.
  • Plastics.
  • Timber.
  • Glass.

Can be applied using a metal trowel, metal putty knife, brush for detailing, pouring directly from the bag (NV only) or cartridge gun (X1 only) - consult manufacturer for further details.

Stopgap F77

Ball, F and Co Ltd

A solvent free two part epoxy resin system which cures to provide a waterproof surface membrane.

Not suitable for use over synthetic anhydrite subfloors.

It impedes the passage of residual construction moisture and rising damp from affecting subsequent floorcovering installations, therefore allowing early installation of floorcoverings in fast track building programmes.

It is pigmented black to allow the user to visually control coverage uniformity. It can be used to isolate residual construction moisture where relative humidity values are up to 98 %.

Rough, uneven or damaged concrete or sand/ cement screeds must be smoothed/ repaired with Stopgap 1200 Pro, Stopgap Green Bag/ 114 liquid or Stopgap 460 Exterior Repair.

Prime the surface with neat Stopgap P131 primer.

Features:

  • Impedes the passage of construction moisture and rising damp up to 98% relative humidity with a single coat application.
  • Colour pigmented to aid coverage uniformity.
  • Can be applied direct over underfloor heating screeds using a coverage of 1.8 m²/kg where readings are up to 90 % relative humidity.
