Schlüter®-DITRA-HEAT

Schlüter-Systems Ltd

Features:

  • Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT is a universal substrate for tile coverings, which serves as an uncoupling layer and vapour pressure equalisation layer and is designed for the attachment of heating cables.
  • Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT is a polypropylene membrane with a cut-back stud structure. A fleece fabric is laminated on the underside of the mat. The thickness of the mat, including the stud structure, is approximately 5.5 mm.
  • Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT is non degrading, waterproof and can be used for crack bridging.
  • Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT is largely resistant to the effects of watery solutions, salts, acids and alkalis, many organic solvents, alcohols and oils.

Summary of functions:

  • Uncoupling: Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT uncouples the covering from the substrate and neutralises the stresses between the substrate and the tile covering that result from different deformation processes. The material effectively bridges tension cracks from the substrate and ensures that they are not transferred to the tile covering.
  • Load distribution: The stud structure of Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT with its thin bed adhesive layer transfers traffic loads on the tile covering directly to the substrate. As a result, tile coverings installed over Schlüter -DITRA-HEAT are highly durable (Minimum tile format 5 x 5 cm).
  • Bonded assembly: Due to the bond of the fleece fabric with the thin-bed adhesive over the substrate and the mechanical anchoring of the thin-bed adhesive in the cut-back stud structure, Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT creates a lasting bond of the tile covering with the substrate.

Areas of application:

  • Cementitious screeds.
  • Concrete.
  • Heated screeds.
  • Plywood panels that are specially treated to prevent the absorption of moisture. The thickness of the panel should be selected to ensure sufficient impact resistance in conjunction with a suitable support structure.
  • Hardwood floors provided the floorboards have tongue and groove connections, are sufficiently load bearing and are securely screwed down.

CE waterproofing declaration of performance available upon request.

Installation is preferred by Schlüter-Systems trained installers.

ThermoSphere Membrane Heating Cables

ThermoSphere

Combined underfloor heating and uncoupling system suitable for use with tile and stone floors.

Features and benefits:

  • Robust - suitable for use in high traffic, heavy-use areas; the stud structure transfers the load to the sub floor without risking cracks.
  • Heating cables can be laid with variable spacing depending on required output.
  • Uncoupling layer neutralizes the stress caused by different rates of expansion and contraction in a tiled floor, which reduces the risk of tile delamination and cracking.
  • Studs and fleece backing in the membrane allow water vapour to escape effectively, allowing for tiling over a substrate that is not fully cured.
  • Can also be installed on walls and sealed with the ThermoSphere waterproofing kit as part of a heated wetroom.
  • Range of control options including wireless and remote (specified separately).

Applications:

Suitable for use as underfloor heating with:

  • Timber substrate.
  • Heated wetrooms.
  • Single or double ply over a ceiling void.
  • Anhydrite based screed.
  • Insulated concrete screed.

ThermoSphere Electric Underfloor Heating Membrane

Heavy-duty screed heating cable for use in 40–100 mm screed layers.

Features and benefits:

  • Robust polyvinyl chloride (PVC) coating protects the TwistedTwin™ heating cable during installation and prolongs product life span.
  • Perimeter insulation foam acts as a thermal break and expansion gap around the screed.
  • Storage heating effect: In-screed systems have a slower heat up and cool down time and are suited to rooms that are in constant use, so heating can take place during off-peak times when low cost energy tariffs are active.
  • Suitable for use as primary or secondary heating applications in insulated properties.
  • Flexible cable spacing allows for variable heating output per square metre.
  • Range of control options including wireless and remote (specified separately).
  • Ten-year warranty.

Applications:

Suitable for use as underfloor heating with a concrete screed with most floor finishes in new builds and renovation projects, subject to manufacturers’ guidelines on maximum floor temperature.
